New clutch, again -_-

So we drop my tranny to replace the slave because its leaking and we pull the clutch off to check the rear main. The disc is almost totally worn. It's been MAYBE six months since I've had it. Prolly made 6 passes. It's a centerforce DF. Very disappointed. Paid 370 for the kit and it didn't last for **** on a car with only like 380hp on the motor. Wtf. Replacing it with a spec stage 2. Fml

here is my recommendation

http://www.mcleodracing.com/products/RXT+Twin+Disc.mcl

My car is nearly 550 to the rear wheels, heavier and has way more than 6 passes on it at the strip.

Yea dude I wasn't about to drop like 1200 on a kit today. This wasn't me wanting to upgrade. This was me not wanting to drop the tranny in 6 months. Down the road that's what I plan on getting though.

Got to drive her today. Clutch feels good. The pedal deflates after cruising. I guess it needs more natural bleeding.

I had a customer with a Shelby upgraded GT500KR that needed a clutch replacement after a few months. We replaced his clutch and flywheel with a RPS carbon and steel flywheel combo. We also replaced the slave cylinder. Zero problems. He did have to re-learn how to drive it though. He's 100% happy with it.

How was the clutch action? Did the replacement clutch have better street manners or was it even more of a race piece compared to the factory clutch?

You were talking about the abnormal wear on the clutch, something I haven't had a problem with in the 30,000+ miles I've owned the Mcleod. Its pricey with the flywheel (I got the lightened steel flywheel) but this clutch has been nothing but great, it tolerates heavy stop & go traffic very well and handles the abuse at the track in similar fashion. That it is easier to drive compared to the factory clutch is a plus as well (lighter pedal feel and easier to modulate).

Weird I have 20,000ish miles and 25+ drag passes and countless rips on the street, perhaps you didn't install it properly or don't know how to drive. If my clutch went bad tomorrow I'd buy another center force DF

It only goes together one way son. It's probably me. I liked the way it grabbed and felt. I think the slave was bad from day 1. This spec feels good so far though. Supposed to be good for 520tq

Its not for someone that likes to slip the clutch. You'll break it(shatter really) very quickly that way. I generally only recommend this clutch to a high horsepower car that isn't a daily driver because you can't slip it.

As far as Spec is concerned, I've put them in many cars ranging from Mustangs to 240's and they're holding up just fine. Then again, we're very strict about break-in process which a lot of people seem to disregard.

*Edit* Oh, and almost forgot...every Mustang clutch we've done the slave was complete crap. So replacement of that is a good idea.
