Here's a few pics of the new built shortblock. The valves will be seated in the heads tomorrow and the longblock should be done next week.

What are the oem valves and springs built with compared to the new ones?

Looks cool, but whats with all the blocks? Do you do this for a living?

[attachmentid=40395]Nitrous shortblock...notice the flat-top piston for higher compression.

Uh no, this is in my motor builders shop-Al Pappito Boss 330 racing. My shortblock is the black iron one which is being built for a turbo setup. The aluminum block is being built for Nitrous. Different material in the valves and springs. The custom springs are a double spring. A bit more reliable. The pistons on mine have a 9cc dish where the nitrous piston is flat. The valves going in mine are flat on the bottom compared to the oem ones. So..the pistons are dropping the compression a bit, but the valves, being flat, will bring it back close to OEM compression. With the buildup being a turbo setup, the motor will MAYBE p/u 5-10 hp without the turbo of course. Better balancing and rotation. The motor will be able to spin at about 9000 rpm's safely...if I wanted too, but I won't.

Looking good David... Did you buy the block thru FRPP and then take it to Al? What did the block by itself run?? I've been looking at the 5.4 L Iron block, it's just so heavy...

Nice it going to be a monster. how much does it cost for total build?
What sleeve are you have on your block?
why are you not using the stock block?
Did you ask them how many HP can the stock block hold?

I'm curious, why did you go with iron over aluminum like the nitrous block? That forged crank looks stout. You said you could rev to 9K if needed, what type of rods? How much boost are you going to run? Sorry for all the questions. I am new to the mod motors and trying to learn as much as I can before spending $$$. Thanks! Bob

What type of turbo setup are you going with? Custom, powerhouse, hellion? I know there are more but those were the first three to come to mind.
