New $250.00 drive-shaft need demensions?

Hey fellow gearheads,

I found a local driveshaft shop here in Chicago that will make me a
NEW not used drive shaft. In either Chrome-moly or aluminum, including
a brand new flang.
What I need to know from some of you smarter than average bears is the total length FROM:
the back of the pionon flang to the leading front edge of the output shaft.

If we can get this right and it works well I will be happy to look into a GROUP PRICE for this item. Of course any ristriction that the site hosts have will be hobored.

NOTE: measurement needed-

Thank you,
Intruder

I wish I could help you- there must be somebody out here with the measurements. $250 is what a driveshaft SHOULD cost. $800 is insane price-gouging. I really want one, but I am not going to pay more than $300 for one. I would be interested in one of your shops' driveshafts, provided it included the conversion plate to eliminate the CV joint.

Anybody?

Pretty sure it is 53.25" (length of shaft). Do a search for "Ranger Driveshaft", as a lot of people are buying this and then trimming it to fit.

Why not remove yours and take a measurement from it?

Are you or the Driveshaft shop aware that this is a 2 piece shaft with a slip joint? Possible the shop is thinking old style with a 1 piece shaft and a slip yoke at the front.

I have been working with a driveshaft shop in the area and have found that I can get one ready to bolt in for ~$450 + tax. $250 seems a bit too low considering it would cost about that much just to get the ranger shaft and flange.
I will be seeking out more shops in the Chicago area and maybe we can spear head this project together since I am in the same geographic area. (See PM)

If I can get them fabricated for much less WITH the same specs as the powerhouse product I will be passing on the savings to those who may want one.

I'll keep everyone posted.

Until then -->

Count me in on any group buys if they materialize. I'm also thinking about writing FRPP to consider making one.
