New 1/4 mile best!

Hey guys.....

After spending a season in the 13s NA, and then a year in the 12s with a Vortech blower, I have finally smashed into the 11's!

Today I ran a 12.5 introductory time (haven't been to the track since September) and then cracked off a 11.861 and a 11.854 back to back! This was my first attempt with my new found power setup as well as M&H racemaster tires..... I'm very happy and excited..... now gonna shoot for 11.5s with some more practice!

Thanks to dly (Darrell) and the Brenspeed crew for coming out and having a great time too!

Congrats Tom !! That is fantastic news ! Does there happen to be any vids ? I heard for the first time a saleen blower at full song on a dyno yesterday... have to admit it sounded pretty sweet.

BTW what size M&H are you running ? I am going to be looking to get some DR or cheater slicks on a set of 17" knock-offs and I couldn't even begin to know what size to look for.

Sorry no vids of my car, but I think I have a vid or two of some Saleen powered cars. I didn't have anyone to take vids of me, as it was just me and my son and he was too busy doing what 9 year olds do. I am running 325/45/17 Racemasters on aftermarket 17x9 bullitt wheels from American Muscle. The M&H run kinda small, so they fit on the 9" wheel just fine whereas normally you'd need a 10"+ wheel. But, the added sidewall of the M&H really works well. Last year I ran BF Goodrich 275/40/17s on the same wheels and had horrible, horrible traction. These M&H tires barely spun with a clutch drop in first gear!

I have 4.10s which I'm not sure if they are the best for the track.....takes a big tire to make the car hook. But they sure are fun on the street.

Hey Tom--if you have no one to video for you--put in a dash cam so you can have video like this:

In car camera Irwindale Whipple Mustang

When you put a couple more passes on the M&H's, they will hook even better.

What were your 60's? Nice job, BTW. Gotta love the M&H's. Can't wait to put mine to use in a few weeks.

Wow Tom, just so you know---I looked up all of my passes I keep track of on my spreadsheet and 94.49 mph is good for a 7.20 in the 1/8th. And 119mph is good for an 11.30 in the 1/4. With practice I think your going to be posting a new best every week!

psfracer or tom281, what an average 60' time for our 'stangs, NA w/ stock gears? I know, its been a while for you guys, and there's a lot of factors that are involved, just asking for an average to see how I'm doin!!

Thanks for posting the slips. There's definitely still some 60' to go in those M&H's, and I'm sure you'll find that after just a few more trips.

I'll defer to psfracer or someone with more experience than me..... I am still figuring out my way down the track and should not be giving advice or input to anyone, LOL.

Not really, I was attempting but it was more like speed-shifting rather than power-shifting at full WOT. I need to work on it but more importantly I want to focus on the first 60 feet first, then after that I'll work on power shifting up the big end of the track.
