Need Tire Suggestions! Please Read/Respond!!!!
My stock tires are just about used up, and I'm looking for a replacement. I do take the car to the track eight to ten times a year. I have an '05 GT, rims 235/55ZR17.
I was looking at a set of BFGoodrich's g-force T/A KDW's but, like nearly all the tires I look at, they don't have my tire size! I've been thinking about going to the 18 inch rim, but even that won't get me the right size. The 18 inch rim is 235/50ZR18, and the closest size they have is a 245/45YR18... not so comfortable with plus-sizing my tires, never done it before.
I've also been considering the Potenza RE750, but their 18-inch rim size is 245/40R18, their closest 17 size is 255/50R17... not sure how great that would fit, either.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Is 245/45YR18 no big deal on an 18-inch rim?? Will I need to get a speedo recal for the 255/50R17 (I know I would have to for the 18s)?? Any other tire suggestions? I'm open to reccommendations - goodyear, toyo, firestone, etc.
Let me know!

What did you think of the stock Pirelli's? They are not the absolute best tires in the world, but there are many that are far worse too. Biggest advantage is they are cheap. Just a thought.

If you go to an 18", the best tire size to use is 255/45/18's. They are also only about 0.2" smaller than the factory 235/50's. You won't need to fix the speedo for these either because the overall diameter is almost the same as your factory 17's.
235/55/17- 27.18"
255/50/17- 27.04"
235/50/18- 27.25"
255/45/18- 27.04"
235's are too narrow a tire anyway for our cars, it will be a nice performance upgrade with 255's.

I didnt read your whole post lol. Yes the Potenza's are amazing tires. They do not effect the speedo and the fit great. They also look amazing with a little bulge look! Makes them look good and meaty!

The most economical is to find the suitable 17" size for your stock wheels. I personally opted for 255/45/18 on an 18X9 wheel. The fit is great, and overall diameter is nearly the same as the stock 17 tire. No speedo recalibration required.

Okay, you guys have made up my mind - 255/50R17s it is. Going with the Potenza RE750s. They have them on TireRack for 163 apiece, cant find them anywhere else for under 200 - but it says "Low Stock" - does that mean I'll be waiting awhile for them?

One other thing you might want to check into are the FUZION ZRi's. They are made by a subsidiary of Bridgestone and are based on the same design as the RE750's. They are also a LOT cheaper!

Go to this place:
www.savontires.com
Better prices usually and free shipping.
If you don't drive in the winter, I'd go with the Potenza RE050. If you need all season, the BFG KDWS is good and you can save some cash on Kumhos although I've never tried any.

I'm running the BFG KDWS tires in 255/50/R17 and love them! In fact, this is my second Mustang with them. Another choice for you to think about!

The RE750s are great... so far about 5,000 miles on them and they still look brand new... I love them in the rain and in the dry they hook up forever... granted I live in Mississippi and we are still seeing mid to upper 70's in the day... I hope winter is not to ugly for the tires... They say low supply on tire rack because the Potenza RE750s are special made when you order them and then shipped out directly from Bridgestone... I ordered mine through a local shop here in town and they got a great deal directly from the factory ... I cant remember exactly what I paid for them I will have to find my sheet in the morning... But I do not believe you can go wrong with them at all I have nothing but great things to say about them!

I also use the 235/50ZR18 0n my '06 GT. I just bought a set of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S and I have never been so impressed with a tire purchase. These tires are great. My 'Stang is my DD so I need an all season, but these work great on dry roads too. I love 'em.

The T/A KDWS are great for wet, snow and hiway driving. They are not subject to colder temps either.Plus they hook up really nice, check the Tire Rack for that tire. They are resonably priced.
