I CANNOT GET THIS BOLT OUT! Ive already busted a deepwell socket and torqed the heck out of a socket wrench on this damned thing.

Ive tried leverage, ballpeen hammer, everything I can think of and it will not budge. wd-40ed it as well.

My question.. is it necissary to remove this bolt or can the headers make it in without the power steering rack being pushed an inch forward as per the instructions.

I have limited wrenching experience, I am working on jackstands on my garage floor with a socket set :bang:

Any ideas or imput on how you got this darn thing off or if I can go ahead without it moved forward.. I would have tried to mount it like it is now but I didnt want to mount the header in there until I get my motor mounts (tomorrow) so I can do them with the header off. please post your input! :worship:

In case you threw your instructions out, here is a link to the .pdf to refresh your memories since i think its been a while since ive seen someone talk about JBA header install. http://www.jbaheaders.com/installsheets/html/6675.pdf

Are you wrenching it from the top side? The bottom is welded on, it look's like a free nut but it's not... I almost busted a socket also till I relized you have to go after it from the top side.

BTW: You will need to remove that bolt so you can slide the rack.

I tried the top side for about 10 minutes after an hour of hercules effort on the bottom but by then I was exhausted . The bottom being welded would probably explain the busted socket though lol.

thanks Vegasjay, will try the top again right now,

Any thoughts on the Steeda Motor mounts before i try them tomorrow?

I would install the motor mount's now why your in there, and the manifold & header is out of the way. Just get a thick piece of wood and a floor jack and gently suport the motor by the oil pan. I was a little nervous about it at first, but Derick let me in on this little trick and it worked like a champ.

I also read about the wood block method! Im also a little worried about but it sounds like it works so ill go with it, Also thanks for the info on that bolt VegasJay, it came right off when i hit it from the top with a little second wind muscle, whoever welded it on there did a good job, I could not see any weld marks at all on it.

I am already about 4 hours into this install so Im guessing about 14-16 hours total. Very glad I didnt take it somewhere to get this done!

Glad I could help. Yah that bolt about got me too.... It's welded very clean and Ford did a nice job on it for sure. It took me about 16 hours also. Alot of guy's here did it in 6 hour's or so, I'm just slow I guess. I like to make sure I get everything right cause I hate going back to do something over...Good luck and I hope all goes well, I'll be on for a little while if you have any more questions.
