My Mustang Mileage/MPG Chart
#1
Thought I would share this. Wanted to see what kind of MPG I'm getting so I've been keeping the stats and charted it out. Most of my driving is mixed City/Highway...and the Highway driving could be smooth at 70 mph or crawling at 10 depending on traffic. Anyways...here it is.
Chart shows MPG over my Mileage date range.

thats very good MPG. My 05 gets around 10. But I drive it like I stole it so I guess it makes sense.

You're getting great mileage!
Mine has 1700 miles on it, and I'm averaging about 15 in city driving (average speed about 30 mph), and the best I've seen on the highway so far is about 24 mpg @ 60 mph and 23 mpg @ 70mph.
For the 15 mpg in the city, I'm really not driving it that hard at all - really no opportunity to do that - and there's never stop-and-go traffic. Just traffic lights, and speeds between 30 and 50 mph.

Makes me a lettle less upset that i didn't go for the GT when i see you guys geting numbers like that especially with the gas prices today.
I have a V6 and am getting like 23-24 for mixed when i drive normally and 18-20 when i drive hard.

I record my gas mileage after every tank. In mixed driving, I have averaged 20.46 over about 5600 miles. The last 5 tanks (about 1300 miles) average out to 21.19. There is a slow, steady increase in the MPG as the miles have accumulated (as expected). I don't drive hard most of the time. However, I "enjoy" the power occassionally. For a GT auto, I am pleased.

Why would you be upset on what you got? Be thankful what you have regardless of MPG. IMHO

I know this thread has been dead for a month, but I have been worried about my gas mileage. All I do is drive in town. I might hop on a highway once every two weeks for 2 miles from exit to exit. If I baby her, I get 13-14. If not, 11. I did drive about 50 miles on the highway a few days ago and got 22.8 @ 75 mph. I guess it looks like this is pretty average for a GT. Car has 2000 miles.
One question: Does the 17 mpg city really mean "city" or does it mean mixed driving. I had heard I thought that the lower figure actually denotes the expected gas mileage in mixed driving.

I average 12-14mpg. Gas prices don't really bother me, nor am I concerned about fuel economy. Had that been a factor I would have stuck with my Honda. I do however wonder how people are getting 20 or more MPG. Even on a long freeway drive (500+ miles) I averaged at best 21 MPG.
The V-6 was only rated at what 2mpg better? Man if all things being equal no way I'd give up 100hp for 2mpg better miliage, no matter how high gas prices were. JMHO

For the heck of it today I set my cruise @ 72mph & reset my mpg readout and averaged 27mpg after going about 30 miles. I've got a GT with just over 6000 miles and running mobile 1 synthetic.

i posted this info on another thread on this board, but it bears repeating, especially with all the wheel mods being done: the first thing you want to do to establish a baseline for accuracy is to check the calibration of the speedo/odometer against a mileage marker on an interstate. if it's not spot on, then all the data collection is inaccurate.
also, in the dead of a dog-day summer when the a/c is on constantly, the mpg will drop significantly: maybe2/3 mpg depending on how much city driving you do and how many stop lights you run into. in fact, in parts of the country that are mandated to have "reformulated" gas for the winter season, you will experience another loss of fuel economy due to the oxeygenated (sp?) gas.
but, most importantly, check the calibration on the speedometer/odometer...especially if you changed tires/rims. the best method would be to check before and after the mods. jackg 90seville 97k

19 MPG here with 5700 miles mixed city and hwy.
See my sig for mods also.
On highway trips I have seen as high as 28 MPG.
Seems like it likes it when I get on it too.
Not bad for an Auto, I like it.
It actually gets better milage than my 6 cyl. F-150.
