My first CEL
Well, I thought I was the lucky one to not ever see a CEL...WRONG. I have an SCT. The car was acting like it was hesitating and starving for gas. The CEL lit up. I turned it off and back on, still there. I flashed it, returning the Factory program. Flashed it again with the custom tune and the CEL is gone. I need to find out exactly why it's coming on. I may be making a trip to the dealership soon. I've tried sifting through here for this. Any suggestions or experiences are welcome.
Thanks,
David

I have heard the new XCal is coming out this weekend - we shall see. If it does, then we will be able to read the codes with-in a few days after that. I also have one that some on once in a while and can't wait to see WTF is is

I took the car to the dealership today to change the tranny and oil and have them check on the codes. They couldn't find any stored codes. I guess I need to wait for the light to come on again then take it down. The reflash did remove the CEL. It feels like it's starving for gas when the light is on.
It's starvibg for gas when the light is on because it goes into "safe mode". I think it actually shuts down two of the cylinders. It's so you could still make it home with the CEL without taking the risk of really damaging things. This is how my service tech explained it to me. I too had my CEL on for my coil packs. 5 minutes in and out should fix it.
I think I'll be getting them replaced. Did you take it in with the CEL on or did they test the coil packs and find them damaged or whatnot?
The CEL was on when I took it in. The dealer read the code and found that a coil pack was bad. Good thing they had one is stock because it was in November of last year.
That is why I think you might have a different issue. Because your dealer couldn't find anything wrong right?
I also had the CEL go on at about 1500 miles and the dealer said that there was no problem and that they just needed to reflash the computer.

David ,
Like I said above , I had some problems with the CM plates and the Predator at first. I kicked it one cold morning and the computer sent me into what the Shop Manual called "forced limited power mode". This may be what you describe as starving for air , I not sure. When it happened to me , I could give the car very light throttle only. If I tried to accelerate normally , it would shut down some of the cylinders and the car would barely move. The computer had two trouble codes stored in it. The first one was for a "throttle malfunction" and the second one was a "torque management calculation error". The emissions manual said if the two codes occurred together to ignore the first one. I see you've added the CM plates recently , but you're running the SCT tune and I never had any problems with it , only with the Diablo tune before they fixed it ...

I spoke with a buddy and this is what I've found out. Supposedly, 50% of all coil pack warranty work ended up being bad spark plugs. I'm guessing that due to my setup, headers and running at 13.1 A/F ratio, I may have burned a plug or two, etc. I went ahead and ordered new plugs, which will be in this evening. $9 a piece  I will be scheduling a some more dyno time to bring down the A/f and bring back the timing a bit. My buddy seems to think gain more HP this way. He is a tuner for Diablo and is pushing hard for me to go to the predator. I'm satisfied with the SCT though and am looking forward to the XCAL2. Hopefully, with the adjustments, I'll gain a couple HP and torque. Well see!
