What the heck are you talking about? I asked a simple question on the already running post about 410 gears. You two “Greek and Mongoose” seemed to have jumped somebody’s shi? With my simple post.

I look to this forum for information. I have a guy at a ford dealership that is very willing to help me on his own time to help set the lash on the 410 gears that I installed in my 05 GT. We are having a small wine at 90mph that WE would like to correct. Reason why I posted my question “I am have trouble getting my 410 gears set to have no whine noise. What is the proper lash range that most people is setting the pinion depth?

Lighten up. I will post the question on another forum.

What the heck are you talking about? You highjack someone's thread and then whine that other members are continuing to comment on the original post? Maybe you do need to go to another forum.

Tim,

The sweet spot for our rears seems to be .007 on the lash and .028 on the pinion depth. My 4.10's are set to those specs. My backlash reading varies up to .0011 as you rotate the assembly due to an imperfection with the gears, the carrier or both. The set-up is unacceptably loud and will be changed from Precision to FRPP gears when I get time. I don't think the gear set is the culprit and I'm not holding my breath on the FRPP's, but I've got to do something. I don't want to go back to the 3.55's, but I will if the new set whines too. My installer is not the problem. He says that simply taking off the ring gear and rotating it 180 degrees can sometimes make a difference. These '05 rears are touchy.........
