Now that the Kenne Bell 2.6 is complete and fully functioning I feel at an impasse when it comes to what Cat Back I should be running! KB confirmed I'd be okay keeping the BBK Shorties and matched High-Flow Catted X. However this combo with the SLP Loudmouth muffler delete was just too much. I am looking for a nice cat back or axle back that will go well with this set up. I prefer the cat back as it would replace what is remaining of the factory pipes. Not a deal breaker but you know how it goes! I took the SLP's off and reinstalled my stock mufflers over the weekend. WOT and boosted situations sound pretty good but its awfully quite. Maybe it's perfect and I just haven't warmed up to it yet?
I was considering the Flowmaster American Thunder Cat Back but it seems to include an X-pipe which I already have.
Anyone got any thoughts or recommendations? I am probably over thinking this.
Thanks in advance,
Nem
I've scoured the net and get good feedback but nothing specific to what I already have.

You mean American Thunder DroneMasters? lol. Well if you don't mind drone? then go for it, otherwise, I'd highly recommend going with either Ford Racing M-5230-S aka FR500S axle back mufflers or Borla ATAK cat-back exhaust. Both exhaust setups are ideal for running X-pipe applications that are loud, but not overbearing and produce minimal to zero interior resonance drone. In the meantime, best of luck,

Exactly why I am here. Feedback that provides usable info. It has been a while since I bought or ran anything from Flowmaster and I usually take it to a shop and have the work done rather than by one that I can bolt on. Drone is something I can live without!
I think I'll look at the FR and Borla. It is time for me to try something new.

I have those on otherwise fully stock exhaust and they do sound great and have no drone like you say; but I'm afraid they might be too loud on a boosted car with other exhaust mods, not sure
I have also tried the Magnaflow rectangular mufflers, they have a nice deep smooth tone, but not much louder than the stock muffers . . . I think Nem is looking for something in between, but I'm not sure what that is
You are correct sir. I know that might be tough to achieve though. Shorties with hi-flow cats are just loud. Even with the factory mufflers at WOT she sings. Maybe I should just run the Factories for a bit and see if it grows on me. Sure is nice hearing the whole car and not just the exhaust out back

I'm sure your aware they were the stock exhaust for the "2008" GT500KR edition, so they shouldn't be too loud on a boosted car. However, I have read on other forums that with long tube headers or running straight pipe with hi-flow cats/no cats, they were way too loud and would also drone really bad. Therefore it all depends on what other exhaust mods your considering. My advice to anyone who's looking into either running a long tube header setup or running catless/straight pipe to consider adding resonators for reducing drone or look into getting Borla Touring cat-back exhaust or Borla Touring axle-back mufflers. I would also stay away from Corsa performance exhaust when ditching either the OEM catted mid-pipe or considering a long tube header setup. I most definitely agree about the Magnaflow street rectangular mufflers, as I still have them in storage, sitting down in my basement as they just weren't loud enough for my liking lol.

I think I am going to give the Borla Stinger S-Type Cat back a shot. If I understood what I've been reading these are virtually the same as the Ford Racing M-5230-S. I am not finding a single online shop that has the Fords even in stock until the end of month.
I know that AM shows these on the loud side of the meter but I can't believe they'd be louder than the SLP muffler deletes?
Cheers guys,

Nemi! if your interested in the Borla S-types? I have the axle-backs sitting down in my basement. They're in excellent condition and I'll sell them to you if your interested?
It is settled! Just made a deal on a set of Borla Stingers from our very own Rocky! (m05fastbackGT) Thanks man, much appreciated. I also ordered a Stainless over axle set from LMR to complete the exhaust on the GT/CS. Really looking forward to the results. Something tells me I wont be disappointed.
