MPG numbers with Airaid or C&L
Hey everyone, I was wondering what kind of MPG increases (or decreases) those of you who have either the Airaid or C&L intake have seen with the 'no-tune' option (I did a search, but could not really find exactly what I was looking for). Yes, I know a tune will help with power, but I am mainly looking for MPG gains (plus, both of these CAIs have the option to remove that restrictor if I would want to install a tune down the road). I would also like to hear any MPG gains from those of you who do have the CAI/tune combo.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

MPG gains, what are those? I'm lucky if I get 12 MPG around town and that's 95% of my driving. I did just oder a GMS coil pack kit, they claim a 15% increase in MPG I'll let you know it it's true.
But then again I didn't buy a GT mustang for gas mileage, if I wanted 30 MPG I'd bought a honda

I didn't buy my GT for the mileage either, but at $4.00 a gallon, but I figure every little way to improve mileage helps.
Hmm... I would have figured a coil pack would mainly help boost hp more than it would mileage; hopefully it will do both

I don't know how you get 12, you must drive hard! I drive 25.8 miles to work and back each way, at least half of that in stop and go traffic, the other half 30-60 mph. I drive 6 miles each way to the golf course at lunch, in town and a bit on the highway. I get between 19.8 and 20.4MPG depending upon winter or summer blend. This is an increase of 1.3MPG after changing from a canned Diablo tune and factory airbox to the C&L Racer and Bamachips 91 Octane Race tune.
If I do a reset and drive at 65MPH on the highway I get JUST under 25MPG. Hope that helps!

I took a trip to Grand Junction,CO from Denver last Sunday.I reset the car computer for the trip.My MPG read 29.4 average most of the time and dipped down to 28.6 a few times.I didn't buy my Mustang GT for fuel mileage either but I'll take it at $4.00 a gallon. We did pull a couple of 10,000ft. passes there and back.I did use the cruize control about 80% of the time.I use a K&N drop-in filter and 5-20 weight Ford full synthetic oil.

Interstate driving, cruise control set @65, 571 miles on 19.6 gallons = 29.13 mpg. Stock w/ Fram Airhog only, no tune, tire pressure at 38 psi, Shell 87 octane, injectors are clean. Back and forth to work 60/40 city, and country roads, I average 26.5 mpg.
5 speed GT, Mobil 1 5-20.

I get 19-21 MPG running an AirAid CAI without a tune on my 06 GT coupe. Most of my driving is of the city/suburban variety. I've had the CAI on for about a year, no problems, and I think it looks great!

I run Bama's 93 race tune, I average about 200 miles pre full tank mostly stop and go. If I'm doing alot of highway driving its not any better, but then again I'm in Germany so highway driving means autoban and around 100+ MPH cruising.
I do drive it hard though

When I got my car and added the Airaid CAI, with no tune, I was getting around 18-19 around town, and on the highway, in the high 20s. It was great, and I did feel a difference in the power. Nothing like having a tune, but definitely a little more kick than stock. Airaid is a good CAI for one who wants to run stock for a while, and then can tune it later on without having to buy a new CAI.

So far, it seems like the average increase is about 1-2 mpg. Also, I guess I should have added in my original question what you all get in city driving (which is what I mostly do). Seems like the Airaid is a good intake too.

You won't go wrong with it bud. I liked it so much, I kept it even though I have an old C&L Street sitting in my garage given to me from a friend. I really like the way the Airaid looks, the composite tube, and the airbox is one of the nicest around. Really seals around the hood completely.

I've had the AirRaid on for about 3 or 4 weeks now and I've gained 2-3 MPG in the city which is where 95% of my driving is too. I think the computer is still figuring it all out but I'm happy with the gain in power and efficiency.

I have to agree that the Airaid has the best looking airbox (next to the Bullitt's that is), that's one reason I'm looking into it.
2-3 mpg is the kind of numbers I'd like to see, 90+% of my driving is in the city too. If everyone who has an Airaid averages 2 mpg increase, at 4 dollars a gallon, it won't take too long for the cai to pay for itself.
Thanks for the help so far.

speaking of air raid.. Look into the roush version(made by Airaid) that is identical but with a roush word(more cooler then airaid) on it..

According to the Roush instructions, it includes a "no tune" hose insert.
Looks pretty slick.
They claim

i was very close to getting the jlt with brenspeed tune but now this airade sounds very intriguing especially since i dotn have the money for tune yet. So this cai give around 15hp and 20 torque without a tune right? Then with a tune you can still use it right? just take a piece out to make it tuneable or something? What kind of gains could i expect after you add say a 89 or 91 octane tune? ideas or opinions?
