The most power you can make with bolt-ons and no bottle?

How much power can you make with this motor using only bolt-on mods?

No bottle, no S/C, no turbo, no head work.

Keeping the motor buttoned-up, what is the most you guys have seen?

Thats what I think I am going to do. I don't really want to run 93 oct all the time either. cold air intake, throttle body, headers, x pipe, cat back, That should get me 50 or 60hp I would hope

With LT headers, no cats and an electric water pump, Im thinking I could do 315rwhp/320rwtq, including my current mods.

Well, I know you said to keep the engine buttoned up, but if you do the typical bolt-ons, leave the heads alone, but change cams...........

Maybe i am wrong, but seems like everything I have read indicates with the CAI and retune you end up neading 93 octane ... or is that wrong?

Wrong. Doug @ Bamachips will tune for any octane you can readily use.

That might be alittle out of reach with just those mods.

I think you are looking about about 30 to 35hp with those mods. 15 for all the exhuast work (according to MM&FF)...15 or 20 for the intake side (not sure about the intake side estimate)??

Those look sweet.
I wouldn't have any problems installing cams. Can the install be done using compressed air for the valve-spring replacement? Any idea what kind of lift these cams have? Durability is and issue for me.

Steeda advertises that you will get 30hp with the CAI, add another 8 for the new elbow. 15 for the exhaust and you get around 50-53 hp.

Thats a bit of wishful thinking for the exhaust....And note that the Steeda CAI alone will not delivery the HP advertised, but you must use their tune. 30 hp off a better tune and a CAI is believable, the exhaust is not.

I figure people would take advertisers and magazines HP ratings with a grain of salt by now.

you also have to keep in mind that when a company advertises it may not just be inflated, but they may be looking at the largest gain across the curve... for example in one area of the curve they got 8hp, but as far as peak they only picked up 2hp. a lot of times when guys are estimating their hp they take that 8 and add it onto their peak. when in fact thats not right.. ya know what i mean?

See my signature for mods and gains ... The FRPP X-Pipe and C&L true flow inlet pipe were added after the dyno pulls , so I should have picked up a little more ...

I'm using Doug's 93 tune so I feel good about the 30hp. Magnaflow says about 19hp if you can believe that. Once I add the elbow I'm going to get it dyno'd to see where the numbers are. That's the only way to get a feel for how much extra HP has been added.

I have seen a dyno chart at my tuner's that shows 327 RWHP from an 05 with "all of the bolt-ons". That's CAI, exhaust, LT headers, pulleys, CMRC delete plates and a dyno tune. I'm fairly certain an electric water pump was in there as well, but I'm not 100% sure. He did have an aftermarket throttle body on the car, but removed it after multiple problems with it.

80% of your increase will come from Doug's tune for that 93 octane. 18% will come from the CAI. I'd say 2% will come from the axle backs.

Simply put exhaust is for sound on these cars. Unless you are doing LT's or removing the cats, you will see no significant gains exhaust side.

30hp from one of Dougs tunes and a CAI? Sure. Just don't expect the exhaust to have had anything to do with it.

For the money an intake and a tune from Doug is simply the best peformance value for our cars, improved drivability and probably the best horsepower per dollar ratio.

These were my mods at the time of the dyno run.
Keep in mind it's a Mustang Dyno so add 10% to compare to a Dynojet.
I had not done the CMRC deletes since I was getting a Saleen S/C.
I mention the Gears since some people say you lose HP on the dyno with 4.10's.

Diablosport Predator with 93 Octane tune and C&L "Street" intake
Steeda Underdrive Crank Pulley
Meziere water pump
JBA Longtube Headers and Offroad H-Pipe
Fidanza Aluminum Flywheel
FRPP 4.10 Gears.

I wouldn't go with aftermarket cams at this time.

As a side note these are my times with the following mods.

13.65 bone stock
13.25 Diablosport Predator with 93 Octane tune and C&L "Street" intake
12.95+ BFG Drag Radials
12.85+ Steeda Underdrive Pulleys
12.69+ JBA Longtube Headers and Catted H-Pipe
12.46+ 4.10 FRPP Gears and gutted cats

I hadn't had the time to properly test with the Meziere pump and Fidanza aluminum Flywheel before adding the S/C so I may have improved on my times.
All times are with either BFG Drag Radials or M/T E.T. Streets on factory 17" rims and 275/40 18" front tires with Steeda Roadrace suspension and Street wing.
The car is at full weight + Dynamat Extreme throughout the passenger compartment.

Sorry for the long post but I just want people to get all the facts.

This all interesting to me because I got 313 rwhp and 325 rwtq. On top of that my a/f ration was at 12.08. Here's my dyno sheet
