More "Magic" from Doug @ BamaChips
A little over a week ago, Doug e-mailed me a new auto tranny tune he was working on to test out for him. Frankly, I wondered how he could improve on the previous tunes I had. They worked very well for me. I was already a very happy customer!
Anyway, I drove it a bit that night and gave him some feedback on what I thought. The next day, he sent me a new version which addressed the feedback I sent him. I have been running it for over a week now, and all I can say is... WOW!!!!
For lack of a better term, I have been calling it the "Auto Magic" tune. The car idles better (i.e. a little lower), and responds quicker when nailed. But the biggest difference is during normal driving. I didn't think the throttle response could get much better, but it has. When you touch the gas pedal, the car responds immediately. No hesitation, no lag... none. I swear there is a throttle cable in my car!! At times, I still surprise myself when I just touch the pedal and the car lurches.
I have e-mailed Doug with my thanks for letting me be the guinea pig on this one, but I also wanted to post public kudos about this. Doug... you are da man!! :worship:

Sounds good! I had the custom tuning done, and am very pleased with it, but the more stuff I read about Doug and the more of his posts I see, I can't help but ponder how much I could be missing?
My tune is very nice as it is, but the transmission set-up is just the basic improvement, since there is really no additional tuning to the transmission while on the dyno. It takes real world driving and experience behind the wheel to do this.
The guy who tuned my car was very knowledgable and confident, but he had only tuned 2 or 3 other S197's, and mine was the first with an automatic. Since Doug more or less specializes in the 2005-2006 Mustang's, I wouldn't doubt that he's messaged as much as is nearly possible out of these automatic transmissions.
I've been pondering the idea of seeing if Doug would be interested in updating the transmission part of my tune and at what cost. but I just hated to ask since I did not buy my tuner from him, but with all these positive comments I see all the time, it's hard not to be curious of how much better it could be!
If you read this Doug, give me a reply or send me a PM. I'd certainly be interested in seeing how good your work is.

Kenny... Doug has definitely solved the torque management riddle. IMO, the difference is night and day. I can't say whether or not he would sell you a tune, but if he will, I would recommend you try it.

cool
if you have an auto, SCT is the way to go

SCT is no better than Diablo Sport (the software is very much the same) its the network of tuners that makes the difference. There are great Diablo tuners out there, just because they dont post on these boards doesnt make the Diablo Tune any less desirable.

Hi Don,
PM me with your computer code. I have Lidio's 93 octane tune for the C&L intake and I CANNOT BELEIVE it can get any better than this but I would like to find out if you know what I mean. I want the best but it would be hard to believe anyone can make it any better. I am stuck in the garage for the winter so we have a couple of months to explore our options. P.S. I can roast the tires with the TSC on in 1ST gear and second!!!!!!

But if TCS is on, my car takes a dive whenever there is tire spin. It will engage on the 1-2 shift at WOT (because the whole assend of the car kicks loose when it shifts). My 4.10s might have something to do with that, though.

And I can chirp 3rd, with 275/50 rear tires.

Mine won't do 3rd gear but I have stock gears. I am :worship: . I am afraid to go with the 410's on a daily driver. I am getting 23/24 MPG going back and forth to work at the present.
Awwww... screw the mileage. Go for the gusto. haha
Sounds like Dougs done some upgrading since I got my tunes about a month ago. Maybe I should give him a buzz for the latest tune files.
The tunes I have now are great and it's hard to believe they could get any better, but Don sure is raving about the new ones.

Like I said, the biggest difference will be the throttle response felt during normal driving.

I've got the same Nitto's on my V6... and with Lidio's tune I'm chirping 3rd also! (with no power braking.... just simply WOT)
With a little power braking I spin all the way through 1st... all the way through 2nd... then finally chirp 3rd...
My GT is a daily driver. It is stock right now but I want to start with the mods. How different is the shifting with Bamachips tune for the auto ? I mean with partial throttle not wot. I dont want firm shifts while I am stuck
in heavy traffic. Also, can the tunes on the SCT2 be removed to make room for tunes from another tuner like Alt Auto for example ? Merry Christmas to all !!!!

Mine shifts slightly firmer than stock during normal driving, but I like it that way. It just feels more solid, and doesn't feel like a "slushbox". And I commute 40+ miles a day in SoCal traffic, with 4.10 gears. It's really only a neck-snapper at WOT.

I'm not sure about the GT but the stock V6 auto is upshift happy! It will be in 3rd gear by 16MPH under light throttle! So beside firming up the shift, my tune also pushes out the shift points... I don't come out of 1st gear now until 16MPH, even under light throttle...
This graph shows what a firm shift looks like... You can actually see the wheels must break lose and shows a MPH jump at the shift...

Thanks for the input guys. Anybody out there know about loading tunes from different tuners?
