I boght my XCal from someone else... this was about a year ago when I didn't know Doug. So, if you already have an XCal, you can still enjoy one of Doug's tunes.

Thanks Don for the head's up about Doug's new tunes. I'll give him a couple weeks to get caught up (from all this new business you are about to give him ) and I'll get in touch with him about getting an updated tune. And like you, I thought it couldn't get any better.

I use 93 Torque from Doug and I am SO SO SO thrilled with it. I agree the extra 20 cents / gal is worth it. I mean, the diff per tank is still less than a latte!

Doug sent me a note last week saying he's been getting requests for the new "Auto Magic" tune... so I guessed we coined a new phrase. haha

And before he helps anyone with new tunes, I still need him to fix mine up for the new headers!! Doug, help!!

Don, I think you should be first in line. Personally I'm in no rush. My car is in the body shop until February first.

Took me about four days to get mine but I'm not far from Doug. Shipped to Cali may take about 3 more days shipped ground.

"Auto magic" tune. I like that. I wonder if it is "torque" tune based?

I have the 5 - spd and flashed the 93 torque tune yesterday and was driving around with it. Defintitely can feel the lower end grunt now. I also have the 93 performance tune but haven't tried it yet.

Not to start another great thread about Doug and his tunes, but just wanted to see what folks have tried the 93 performance vs. the 93 torque and which one you prefer? Looks like the auto tranny guys like the torque tune better?

I got mine in a week or so... but I didn't order it on a Holiday weekend.

Yep. 93 performane vs. 93 torque tune is a great dilemma to have. I like having multiple options.

Both 93 torque and performance tunes rock.
I am now getting 19 MPG with mixed driving in the city from the 93 performance tune and also getting 2nd and 3rd gear chirps!
I don't know if this is the latest tune files but these are great!
Not bad for a "Auto magic".

just out of curiosity... how does the torque tune differ from the perfomance tune in terms of timing and fuel and whatnot? And an explanation of how and why each achieves the particular goal would be kinda cool, too. thanks

The torque tune provides a little more low end grunt at the expense of a couple top end hp. For me, I have have found it to be better at the track. Getting 3700-3800 lbs moving with an auto tranny is more beneficial than a little higher trap speed.

Here's my normal responce for that question.....

The Torque and Performance programs differ in the range they are aimed at for making power. The Torque is more so a daily driver program that focuses in on the 1500-3500 rpm's band. In order to do so well in that range though it does give up a few HP up top and this is why I break it apart from my Performance adjustments. The Performance program is aimed at more of a 3000rpm and up rpm band focusing in more on the top end horsepower and all out performance driving. This is a great track tune but also works well daily driven. Any of my programs are safe to use for daily driving unless you request a race only tune.

Thanks, Doug.

P.S. Down from 106 emails to 8 tonight, bedtime

I ordered the JLT2 and X-CAl2 combo from Doug and it should be here in a week or so. I'll give my input on the performance vs. torque tunes when I get them. I can't wait!!!
All these reviews are great.
