Is anyone making a true CAI, where the air is being taken in from outside of the engine bay? Is there room to run a pipe to the wheel well or to the front fender area?
Any thoughts on this? [/b][/quote]
from looking at several 05's on the dyno yesterday it doesn't seem like there is room to move down out of the engine bay.a few of us looked at it and figured that brining air in from the headlight would probably be the easiest way. just not a lot of room to work.

yes, it can be done, with some additional tubing - I am considering picking some up and testing it I am not sure there is any benefit - btu a few buck is stil worth the test.

It can be done, but the opportunities are very limited. Without relocating the fuel block or going thru the headlite, you could install an intake kit and open up a collector in the hood, bring the air in from there. Before I spent the money, I'd like to see what it would really accomplish though IMO.

No doubt, but right now I believe there's quite a bit to squeeze out of this puppy before the intake air temp becomes a priority. Maybe someone will have an answer by that time, without it involving too much remanufacturing of my new car.

I am receiving my MMR intake kit today, finally..... What issues will I have if I install the kit and not get the computer re-flashed for a while? I most likely will not be getting the SCTune done until spring.

How long have you been running the kit without the flash? I am trying to figure out if there is going to be just a performance issue or serious problems if I don't flash it after installing the kit.

I had my MMR for a month before I got my tune. There was a small increase in performance from the addon. When I got the tune, there was more

Adrenaline, I have had my MMR CAI installed for about three weeks now with no tune. The engine light came on about 5 min after installation. I also feel that after 2 days with it I lost any gain and I dont feel I just "got used to it". Regardless of what a lot of people say a lot of times the check engine light does indicate a loss of performance (depending on the code). The motor will "fight violently to protect itself! Another draw back is the heavily oiled cone filter ruins the MAF sensor, it is very very sensitive! I blew mine out to remove some oil and it still has ruined the sensor. My tech at my Ford dealer suggests I replace it after another 3,000 miles (MAF sensor) after more of the oil is gone! If this trend continues I'll be going a different route with the air filter. Bottom line TUNER FIRST MOD LATER!! Trust me I'm learning the hard way!!

None as of yet. I did speak to them on the 27th but they did not give a date. However, i would guess in the next 2 weeks. I actauly told them they need to push up production so that they can keep up with C&L.

what am I getting myself into. This makes me wonder if I should even install this thing or sell it. Having to replace the MAF sensor due to oil from the air filter is not something I planned on and then again, if it is ruining the sensor what else is it ruining.

So let me get this straight, am I the only one that has had the check engine light come on and trouble code's as a result of the MMR intake? It's possible that my filter element was over oiled. I do know that the oil DOES RUIN the MAF sensor I saw the codes personaly and I trust this tech as he is a family friend, and a very sharp mechanic. Ford also discurages K&N style (oiled) filter elements. Which stinks because I have run K&N filters in every thing I've ever owned and stand beheind them 100%. I'm just trying to help you guys avoid mistakes. Be careful with your moding. I've got a situation on my hands now and I'm going to have to work hard to resolve it, which I will! Our new pony's seem to need a programer as a base mod to establish a foundation to mod from IMO. I'm researching and talking to a lot of people to come up with a solution to the problem I've created.
