MD Teams with Livernois, CircleD, Fore and BC Auto

Just wanted to let everyone know whats been going on with my car and what's in store for this year. We are proud to announce that we have teamed up with Livernois Motorsports, Circle D Specialties, Fore Precision and BC Automotive to campaign my car in the NMRA Super Stang Class for 2010!!! Sondra Leslie will be driving the beast with all the new found power.

Last year Sondra got to take a few laps in the car in preparation for this year. And ran a best time of 10.74@125 at the NMCA World Finals while getting her first round win ever. Sondra was a team member of her brother's (John Leslie Jr.) winning Factory Stock program in 2009 and this is her first time in the drivers seat of a drag car.

For 2010 a Livernois Racing Engines 5.0L Stroker shortblock will be added to the Livernois Stage III heads already on the car. Circle D Specialties will be handling putting all that power to the transmission with one of their industry leading torque converters. BC Automotive will be responsible for making the 5r55 transmission live with all of that power and of course Fore Precision Works will be providing the fuel system components necessary to keep everything in one piece.

An important thing to keep in mind on this project, this is my personal DAILY DRIVER. I drive this car to and from work, 30 minutes each way in the snow and the rain. It's the only car I currently have. We're very excited about this project and can't wait to post up some pics as the project progresses. Goals in competition will be low 10 second passes and we may turn things up occasionally and shoot for that 9 second pass.

Thanks again to all the companies involved!

Here is a real quick photoshop I did of how the car will look in competition. Of course it will have drag wheels/tires while at the race track. I'm going to try and make all the stickers removable with magnets/static cling. I don't think I could pass for a Sondra!

Ken, that is awesome news. I wish you all the best. I forgot how much power you were pushing on your car to already be high tens? Did you have a forged block or was it the stock lower end. I knew you already had the heads. What do you think you will be pushing Hp & trq wise after the new equipment is installed?

The car put down 500 rwhp at 7,000 rpm on the dyno. It was pretty much on that tune when it went the 10.74

It had ported heads and custom cams and a reworked stock torque converter. That's it. Stock shortblock, stock trans, stock suspension, stock driveshaft. Hardly anything done.

Power depends on what pulleys I get for my Techco. Russ who used to work for Techco is trying to finish the cog drive. So I'm hoping to use that. I will have a pulley combo for pump gas, probably 16 psi and hope to make close to 600 rwhp for the everyday tune. Then I'll have a pulley combo for max blower RPM, whatever boost that comes out to be. Hoping for around 700 with that setup.

THEN, those runners in the techco are just screaming for a direct port nitrous setup. So I will add that as funds allow. Wonder what it will run at max blower RPM with a 200 shot added on top?

Don't forget this engine is setup for high RPM. On the 10.74 pass we spun it to 7,500 RPM on the shifts and across the line. Yes, with the stock shortblock, lol. Doubt it would take that more than a few times.

Ken

Surely you can't add a 200hp shot to a stock block that already is pumping out 500rwhp can you????? I know you talking about the new stroker but it would be neat to see on the stocker!!

Ok, was waiting for most of the parts to get here to minimize downtime since this is my daily driver. Got word that the converter is shipping this week so thanks to Rich and Adam at the shop, the tranny was pulled today and Rich is driving it out to BC Automotive for the rebuild.

Tomorrow I will start on getting the engine out.

I have decided to try and put together a cog setup on my own. I have a bunch of stuff left over from procharger and I think we can pull off making it work. Not sure if that will be ready for Bradenton but once the engine is out on the stand we will at least get an idea of what needs to get done.

Project 9 second Barbie is officially underway!

Here is a pic of Sondra. Most likely at the track she will be in front of you so you probably won't get a good look.

You just got beat by Barbie! lol

Decided to change the look of the Techco slightly. Took off the top metal plate and blacked out the logo (looks like I missed some of it). will probably paint the throttle body and mass air housing black also to match.

Also found a good place to mount my horn. As you can see here it's very visable through the Agent 47 Grill

So I moved them down onto the intercooler pump bracket

Will also be painting the hood latch area black so it doesn't stick out.

Just got word that Goodyear Racing Tires has decided to come on board with this project! We will be featuring and testing their new Drag Radial Tire on my car. Very coo

Engine is out and disassembled. I was pretty amazed at how nice the shortblocked looked. Zero signs of any issues.

Also got the new torque converter from Circle D today! What a sweet looking piece.

Next up is to install the heads and cams on the new shortblock and get that back in the car. Also will start stripping out the interior for the roll bar install coming up early next week!
