I have heard the Magnapaks and have to say that they are deep as F*** but no loudness. Will adding the Magnaflow X pipe make it throatier/louder? Any sound clips?

Did you hear the Pacs or the Magnaflows? I thought the Magnapacs were supposed to be basically straight through and loud? I would not think that just adding another Xpipe, unless it had the cats removed would be much louder. When I had my 5.0 I swapped the factory mufflers with a MAC system and it got a bit louder (not much) then I swapped the headers with some shortys and still did not get much louder. When I removed the 4 cat pipe and replaced with a 2 cat hiflow pipe it did get a bit louder but still not much. It was not untill I welded in some 1chamber race mufflers that it got loud. Since the 05 factory setup only has 2 cats total, I could not see it gaining much volume. removing the cats will get the volume up.

I have the Magnaflow catbacks with Bassani x-pipe (no cats currently on) and it screams! I've had my share of exhaust with my 05 and this is one of my favorite combinations.

Check out my mustang page (link at the bottom of post) and I have some sound clips of the Magnapacks. Later this week I will be posting a video of my current exhaust combination (Bassani x-pipe with Magnaflows).

I have the cat back packs and they are not too loud but definitely a deeper growl/ rumble. A slight drone at 2k rpms, but oh so worth it!

Never been around them, but a magazine recorded like 103 decibels with the mangapacs, the flows are around 96. Mangaflow says an x-pipe will actually make a car quiter. Smoother air flow or something like. Leaving off the cats will make some serious noise. I had a car with long tubes and no cats and it screamed.

The Magnaflow cat-back actually made my car quieter, but with a deep tone. Add the o/r x and it's night and day - 100x louder.

I have magnapacks and I am researching getting the magnaflow x-pipe. The packs do drone at about 2000 RPM. I would love to have the x-pipe but I don't want the drone to get louder. I called Magnaflow and they told me as well that the x-pipe will make the drone quieter but the overall sound will be throatier. Everyone else says that an x-pipe should make the drone louder, maybe sinse it has cats on there it won't be as loud. Any ideas?

I installed the Magnaflow x-pipe with the high flow cats last weekend. I still have the stock mufflers (soon to be replaced), but the sound has definitely gotten throatier . The midrange power has increased as well. I have not done any other mods yet, but hope to get more out of the x as I add a CAI and tune.

I have the Magnapacs with Magnaflow's o/r x pipe and the drone did get a little come down a little in volume. I can't believe that someone told you that they are not LOUD. There is plenty of growl coming out of my car running this setup.

can you pleaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaase get a recording of this setup with the off road pipes? In order to use the OR pipes, do you mess with the cats?

OK rhoover2, let me make sure I'm getting you right. You have Magnapacks and got the Magnaflow X-pipe with cats, which made the drone from the packs quieter but the overall sound got throatier. Is this correct? I want to confirm because I think I am going to buy the x-pipe.

I'm just really nervous about making the drone louder. So if you are confirming what Magnaflow is telling me, which is that the drone gets quieter, I'm going to have to pull the trigger and buy this thing.

rhoover, a video would be great but I am in need of verbal confirmation that the drone decreases. My anticipation is huge. Thank you.

I have the Magnaflow Catback Pacs as well and sometimes you cant hear the stereo!

Doesnt the Mustang have a stock H-pipe in it? What would an X do over the H?

i have packs and an o/r xpipe. the night we put them on i was like holy crap!!! this combo sounds awesome but it might get me kicked out of the neighborhood cuz i go to work @ 7am. well so far no one has given me the finger or any dirty looks so it cant be too loud. even my more conservative buddies say its loud but not to the point of driving ya crazy. now maybe i'm just getting used to this setup but it seems like rumble is becoming more tame as they break in.
i think this combo sounds awesomem nice and real deep.

Yes I am saying that the addition of the X-pipe with the hi-flow cats quieted the drone! Sorry I didn't get back with an answer sooner but sometimes I am just too busy driving to get on here.

Thats cool, I can't always reply really fast. That is what I wanted to hear about the drone. Thanks, I'm going to pull the trigger on this one.

OK, just ordered and I now have one more question. It looks like on of the pipes is longer than the other one where it connects to the cat back pipes. Will this cause a problem? On the h-pipe they are the same length. Whats up with this?

My x-pipe legs were the same length. Install took me about 2 hrs.
