MAC Axle-back system

Hey just installed mine yesterday, followed the instructions for the exhaust clamps and their placement, but I think a little bit of air is leaking out, I felt it in a few places, specifically more around the spots where they stated for you to see the "D" shape when you clamp it down. Anyone that has installed this system had this problem or is it normal to have a little air leaking out?

I had to use different clamps for mine, and then tighten the hell out of them. The MAC supplied clamps are no good.

I purchased the u-bolt style clamps. Another thing to look for is to make sure you have your clamps as far up the pipe as possible. In other words, right next to where the MAC slips onto the over axle pipe, not an inch or half inch away.

I wanted to re-use the factory clamps (as I think they are much better than the MAC's, and probably better than the other ones I bought) but mine were welded on to theOE mufflers. Yours probably are too since you have an '08 as well.

This might work as well. I had to use them on one side because on that side the MAC wouldn't go far enough up the over axle pipe to get a good seal.

I did have to cut a notch into them to clear the little nub on the factory pipe, but you could always grind that off.

Wish I thought of that before I bought more clamps, haha. Oh well. What I figured out was as the system heats up as I drive, obviously the metal gets really hot and bends quite a bit. So what I did was move the clamps lower towards the muffler and now I'm letting the metal bend a little there, it actually cut down on the air that was leaking out. I can't hear or feel a lot of air escaping now. I bought 4 accuseal's which I read were pretty good, so maybe I will use 2 on each side and that should be all she wrote.

Thanks for the advice, I'll give that clamp a shot if these don't work. Worst case scenario, say screw it and weld it on

I also like my MACs. I think I have one of the most unusual set-ups: Pypes catted X (not the splice in), 12" glasspacks and MACs. You would think it would be quiet, but it's not and even with the x-pipe it still has that classic MAC sound.
