I looked around and tried to find something on this topic, but found nothing....

Just wondering if any of you with lowering springs and stock struts and shocks, are still able to hook up good at the track when drag racing?

Im looking at a set of Eiback pro kit springs, but am worried that ill have trouble hooking up at the track because of the added stiffness. I will be running some drag radials in hopes to help.

Any thoughts ??

M.

You could lower your tire pressure to compensate?

most likely cause the struts to bottom out on hard launches.
not to mention your tires hitting the wheel well

I won't drop my car either

If you're serious about racing (like I am) you'll wait for the aftermarket to bring out some drop spindles and adjustable coilover struts. I won't lower my car until these parts are available. The lowering springs alone will throw off the geometry and most likely cause the struts to bottom out on hard launches.
Sounds like good advice, Thanks as I am in the same boat. Please update if you hear anyone producing these parts. I will wait as well.

I won't drop my car either. I mean look at how low I am here on stock tires and gears with no power adder. With 4.10s, stickies and a lowered suspension, I'd start to bottom out. If you ran the bottle like George, forget it.

Coilovers are already out, just look aroung. MMR, Ground Control, and H&R have them available.

As for lowering, it does not do ant harm in drag racing. A couple of my friend's lowered their high powered cars(450+rwhp) and none have had any issues.

still though, it's not as safe and breaking your suspension will send your car into the wall

Well I just pulled the trigger on a set of Steeda Ultralites, so if they suck on the track , I can always go back to stock.....

Thanks for all the input though,

The MMR coilover is for the rear.

The Ground Control is for a stock strut, no adjustability for compression & rebound.

The H&R coilover is for road race, not drag race.

What are your friends 60'ing.
The GC kit is adjustable with their Koni's.

My friend whom I am specifically thinking of 60's in the 1.7's on BFG DRs. He bought MT slicks and will try them in the spring. That's on a IRS rear with a road race suspension too. My other friend Jon has a built LS1 with a 200 shot and IIRC he 60's in the low 1.6's on 555R's. Another great example would be Vettes. They have a handling orientated suspension, but can launch hard with the right tires.

ur joking right? 2+ in drop in back for me and nowhere close to bottoming out...theres a LOT of space INSIDE that wheel well

Derek speaks the truth. I've seen him run last year at the mid-america shelby meet in tulsa.

we're talking about launching here, drop it in gear at 5k rpm then tell us if it hits, that'll solve this argument

We run Eibach spring and 5000+ rpm launches (1.50 60ft), a 10in wide wheel with 275/50/15 m/t et radials without any issues.

one thing that you should run is a LCA relocation bracket as the rear control arm geometry will get thrown out of whack.

santhuff makes a drag strut now for 05-up. i bought the ground control frt.&rear kits and put them on stock struts. i will be doing the rear suspension this month and probably going to have to make a torque arm since nobody sells one.
ground control set me up with drag race spring rates 175# front and 150# rear although i think the front may be just a little soft for the street i may go to 200 or 225# in the front. i will use strang eng. shocks in the rear. anybody had any experience with these?
