I lowered my stang about a month ago. I also purchased an adjustable panhard rod at the time but I haven't installed it yet. I can put the rod on myself and adjust it by measuring/eyeballing... Would it be beneficial to have a shop do it? Do they use special tools to center the car?

It would be beneficial if you let a shop do it unless you have access to a hoist.

You can do it yourself, all you need is a floor jack and two jack stands that you can place beneath the rear axle to simulate the car having all of the normal load on the rearend. Lay a tape measure on the inner or outer aspect of your brake disk (the top edge works best) and slide it inward until it comes to rest against the deepest portion of the wheel well. Measure the other side and compare. It doesn't really matter what the measurement is as long as the two are the same. If you need more detail PM me and I will explain with another PM or give you my number to discuss it over the phone.

I am waiting on the adjustable rod [wallet issues, y'know]... With the stock wheels and tires, I can see a slight offset which hopefully the alignment dealt with... <sigh>

If you have a shop do it, they can get it perfect. I did my own, and it was way off even from the factory. It was so far off, that after getting the rear set, the steering wheel was off center, and front toe had to be changed.
