I want to get blown. I'm on a budget though. The low output, non aftercooled Vortech kit seems to fit the bill. I have a few questions though that I can't seem to find on their site...
1) Can it be upgraded to the aftercooled kit after installation?
2) Vortech boasts "near silent operator." How accurate is this?
3) About where will this kit put my rwhp?
4) The extent of my mechanic experience is installing a CAI and throttle body spacer. How hard would it be to install this kit?
Thanks for the info.

1. you should be able to add an intercooler in the future to any Blower
2. dunno
3.around 425 hp with proper tune
4. If your mechanical skills are on the new side pay someone to do it, there are steps including (i think for this kit) tapping your oil pan for a oil feed and return. Also the MOST important part of a blower install on these cars is great tunning.
Hope that helps

A guy at my local track is running the Vortech. It's certainly quieter than say a Procharger IMO. He has his bumped up to 9.8psi and is making 482rwhp (I saw the dyno sheets). He had his installed by a shop, and they had lots of problems with the tune. He took it to a 2nd shop, and is still having some issues. In fact, last week at the track, we went head up, and I actually out ran him by 0.04 seconds, and his car went into failsafe mode. But, all he did was drive to the pits, trun it off and restart it and it cleared.
The best I've seen him run at this particular 1/8-mi track is 8.20s (~12.7 in the 1/4). He told he went 8.0 at another track (~12.4 in the 1/4). These are on drag radials. Not bad, but with 480+ rwhp, I'd would expect to be in the 7.75 range or better. Maybe he can't drive it yet...

425 rwhp for the *low* output kit?? heck, how much do the high output aftercooled kits put out? darn, I was expecting like 385 after tuning. That's one heck of a deal for $3500!
Don, yeah that is weird. I would expect better 1/4 time with 480 rwhp. That's more than the C6 Z06's put down and they do 11.5 I think (they put out 500 hp at the crank)...but I guess a lot more goes into good 1/4 times...tires, suspension, aerodynamics, etc.
