Thumbs up

After checking three different local suppliers today, I was told by all of them that there is a national backorder on the Mickey Thompson 275/40-17 drag radial, and that it may be as long as January before I can get a pair!

So, I have two questions:

1. Does anyone know where I can get a pair of them?

2. What other drag radial manufacturers besides Mickey Thompson have you used and would recommend?

I will be buying the 315 30 18's in the BF GoodRich drag radial I the newer style, for the 18x10 Roush wheels. They seem to be popular, and slightly shorter than OEM. Ive always used ET streets on other rides, so Im shoping also.

BTW..thanks for the welcome elsewhere

I looked at the BFG, and to tell you the truth, I'm less than impressed with the tread pattern. But, I haven't seen any of them at my local tracks to really see how they work.

No problem... it's part of my "job" as the Mod over there.

This one...

[attachmentid=35488]

Seen them in person @ JDM on a few customers cars. They sound like they hook, but I like a sidewall.
That tire is also available in a 345 30 18, can u imagine trying to squeeze that sucker in there lol

Unfortunately, that's not the tread on the 275/40-17s... it's different - they call it "Tread Pattern #2". It's looks like a friggin truck tire.

ohh jesus, the original ones, I see what u mean. The numbers 2's are now the #1's, and the original #1's are now the #2's. I like how they confuse us with that...
That (#2) were the first tire I used on my 99L for about a month back in the day. I hated that tire for that truck, but it was better than the F1's @ that time in 99. U know, I think those are the ones on the JDM blown car in a 315 30 17's. Not pretty, but they seem to hook.

Let me tell you from experience, the original tread pattern does hook but there is a specific way you must heat them up. You have to friggin boil them off to get them hot enough, I usually had to get on the bottle in my '66 or at least get them into 3rd gear through the lights to make them stick. Kind of hard with a true street car so I sold them and now have the M/T ET street bias ply and am also looking for the Drag Radials.

I'll let you know if I find any... also, why the switch? Are you not happy with the ET Streets? I was looking at them as Plan B (just in case).

I have heard conflicting reports on the bias vs radials. Some say the bias works better, and others say they work about the same, but the radials last longer. Have you used both of them Mike?

The radials work better on an aoto car, the bias plys work better on a stick car.

A big to the guys at Lethal Performance for finding me a set of the M/T 275/40-17 Drag Radials. I ordered them from Derek a little while ago ($380 shipped), and I should have them next week!! Thanks Lethal!!

BTW, Derek told me they had more (10 sets total)... so call them ASAP if you are looking for a pair. 1-877-2LETHAL.

I may go with the Hoosier 28" tire next season. The track was cold tonight and I couldn't hook. 1.9 2.0 60"s. I still ran a 12.0 with a 100 shot. If it hooked I could run a 11.6 easy.
darn it didn't rain? Oh well. I need to go on the weekend when they prep the track. do you ever go on Sat or Sun?
