Looking for lightweight wheels.

I'm looking for lightweight wheels for my car. I would like something that is around 20 lbs. a wheel, but I'm open to all sorts of suggestions.

I am running the Steeda Pentars. While they look like they should be lighter going from a 17x8 wheel to a 18 x 9.5 wheel plus the 275 Nitto's I can tell you they are quite a bit heavier than the stock wheels and tires. My guess is 10-15 lbs per wheel.

Both are nice wheels. Plenty of Mustangs in American Iron and American Sedan are using the 5zigens. Very light, but it has proven to be pretty durable.

That's good to hear. I want to invest in some as I am trying to turn my car into autocross machine!

I have been researching "lite" wheels for a while now and I can tell you that FORGED are the lightest and strongest. Low pressure cast wheels like Steeda's offer some weight savings over standard cast but will not get you to twenty pounds for an 18 inch wheel. If you are looking to autocross the car and the brakes are not forcing you into a larger wheel I would go with 17 inch forged wheels. They should be a lot less than twenty pounds. Some wheel makers you should look at before you buy are;

Fully customized to your needs and very high end are HRE, Forgeline, and I Forged.
Excellent wheels and more affordable are BBS, and OZ.
If the price of forged is an issue and it is with me which is why I am still saving for mine, low pressure cast is the next best thing and the Steeda wheels offer a great balance of strength and lower weight.

One last thing. The HRE and Forgline wheels I have on my wish list are twenty-one pounds for an 18X9.5

I'm looking to get the TR Motorsports wheels off of tirerack.com.

Thanks for the info. I think it will be a long time before I can buy a set of forged wheels

I was thinking of getting these (Volk RE30) Just a little pricey, but not a bad looking wheel.

that's a 17X9 btw, the 18x9 weight is 17.45 pounds

The Volks are definitely a nice wheel. They look fantastic too.

Man, looked up all the fitments for Mustang wheels over at Tirerack and compared weights, the Fanblade wheel is 27 pounds and the Bullitt wheel is 25 pounds, tire weight is around 28 pounds (27 + 28 = 55) So 53-55 pounds of unsprung weight in the stock configuration.

Good to know since I've been mulling a change to 275/40R18's with wider rims that can fit the GT500 brakes and I'm not really interested in borking the unsprung weight with the FR3 suspension on the car (it was setup with these weights in mind).

I've got a set of Asa AR1s going on soon from tirerack. Website says they're about 23 lbs for a 18x9, which ain't too bad for a wheel that goes for $172 a piece.

The Ford GT wheels weigh in at 17lbs and look really nice on the stang. A TMS member with the handle of Lokius runs that setup and it looks friggin bada$$.
