Looking for better handling.
I have a 07 gt. I have stock 17's on it with Pirelli tires. The problem I have is in corners or when accelerating out of a corner my back end slides out very easy. I bought the car used with 20,000 miles on it so the tires are still good. Would I better to get new tires , I was looking at getting the 20" shelby razor tire and wheel combo from American muscle or lowering my car and adding new sway bars. I already have the strut tower brace. Thanks for any replies.

I would go with the same setup that American muscle went with on there handling package on the bolt on build up on their site I believe it's the best for the money and you should not be disappointed I love taking corners now

It's pretty common for a 300 hp V8 to let the rear end slide out a bit on stock suspension! I would recommend getting a set of Sway Bars, Some sort of lowering either Springs or Coil overs, and a pan hard bar. This will transform your Stang into a fish tailing animal, to a full on road course beast! We also offer handling packs, Definitely check them out.
As far as rims go, it really depends what you would like to get out of it. If your looking for a track car then I'd stay around 17-18's for your rims. Mainly because they're light weight and will allow you to throw the car around a bit!
This is just a few suggestions, let me know if you have any questions! Our Mustang Experts are here Monday-Friday from 9AM-9PM EST and Saturdays from 9AM-5:30PM EST. If you want to hit them up, their number is 866.727.1266. I can also have one of them call you directly.

Yeah the real benefit to running 18's is that you can purchase a wider wheel, which means a wider tire! However when it comes to handling you don't want to run too wide, so it really depends on what your goals are for your Mustang.
A set of sticky 255-275's and a handling pack will put you in really good shape! I hope this helps, let me know if you have any questions. Our Mustang Experts are here Monday-Friday from 9AM-9PM EST and Saturdays from 9AM-5:30PM EST. If you want to hit them up, their number is 866.727.1266.

i am lowered and running 285/40/18 nitto 555 and they do not hold as good as my stock p zero's unless the roads are hot, they suck in cool to cold weather. changed out my lca's and put a adj. panhard bar also. 2 weeks ago, turning left to get on the interstate, i was in the inside lane and porsche boxster s was on my right and tried to pass before the lane merges and hit it withoutturning off tsc and grabbed 2nd gear and backend came around, corrected and then came around the other way twice before i could get it straight. scared the **** out of me, normally with tsc on it cuts back when the wheels slip but for some reason it did not work, luckily no one was behind me. it happened so fast i don't know if i over corrected both times or what.

Are you looking for an all season tire or summer performance? If it were me I would get a set of 18's with summer performance tires and use you stock wheels and tires for the winter months. If you really want the car to handle well then stay with an 18 inch wheel. When you get into 20 inch wheels, unless you spend a fortune, they are too heavy to perform well. I would check out the wheel and tire packages from The Tirerack also.
