Hey Gang,
Getting my JBA long tubes installed next week and need options and set up thoughts. I talked to my installer and said that he thinks that I don't need to install engine mounts for the header install, he said that he has never used them.

Some who I have talked to recommend as Steeda does to use the mounts, but want to know what issues have any of you had if any with out the engine mounts and long tube headers.

i have hooker l/t's and didn't put the mounts on a first. when making a hard right hand turn the engine would lean over and press on the steering shaft making it extremely hard to turn the wheel. it was kind of scary the first time it happened. i was doing 80 on a exit ramp....yikes! when i got home i immediately ordered the prothane mounts. they fixed the problem instantly. prothane are cheaper than steeda about $110 or so. great quality billet aluminum and urethane mount. don't know if you will run into this problem with your jba's but for $100 it's an easy fix.

My car is lowered with the Eibach pro kit, I wonder does that make a difference? Is either of your cars lowered?

JBA's here and I went with the Prothanes. I bought the headers used and it looked like the guy I bought them from did not use them. There was a couple small rub marks on them. It does not rub anywhere on my car. My Stang is lowered by the way. No clearance issues. Prothanes are 109.00 shipped on ebay.

I have the JBA's, lowered with Steeda's and I need the mounts since I rub against the steering linkage.
Instead of the engine mounts though I'll be installing the BMR K-Member with integral mounts (KM010).
I'm waiting to see if there will be any changes once their front A arms are put into production.
If you have no plans to go with a K-Member the $119.00 for the prothane mounts will be well worth it.

How hard is to replace engine mounts? Do you have to pull the motor? I've never even seen a motor mount...so forgive the newb type questions.

well, the motor does sit on the 2 motor mounts so...you'll have to either jack the motor up from the underside or use an engine lift from the top side. It's really simple though. The motor's not going anywhere, especially being attached to the tranny. You could take a floor jack and a piece of 2x4 and jack up one side at a time.

MAC L/T's no problems so far. May change motor mounts just as a precaution since considering a Zex install.

Thanks 169 stang. I figured not many people were pulling their motors to do this.

I don't know if a production date has been set but I was told they're in development.
