Long tubes, Cats or no cats?
Long tubes, Cats or no cats?
Just got a set of frpp hot rod cams installed. About to do the long tubes done tomorrow, they are pacesetters. My questions is, I bought a shorty offroad h for the long tubes, but my buddy eas talking about cutting out my old cats from my stock h pipe and welding them into the shorty pipe. I know it will make it quieter but how much quieter? Any horsepower loss?
Been there done that, alot quieter, I have detroit rockers, ceramic longtubes ,offroad x pipe with magnaflow muffler and its very DD friendly, its not noisy in the cab but if you give a little throttle its alot louder then with the cats but nothing to loud, now remove the muffler for a straightpipe then your gona hear it scream
Just get some after market high flow cats and wled them in. I wouldn't re-use the factory cats. They would probably make everything too quiet.
I have Kooks LT with their catted h-pipe and it is loud and nice. I put a set of Magnaflow Magnapacks before the axle for a mid-muffler setup and it was a little cleaner sounding. I then also put Pypes Pypebombs out back. The sound is really nice now. Deep and when you step on it, everyone hears you easily.
