lca bolt part numbers
lca bolt part numbers
Does anybody know the correct part numbers for the bolts that attach the LCAs. From the factory CD, I have the following numbers:
W704888-S439 (LCA rear bolt)
W704886-S439 (LCA front bolt)
When I look these up for price/avail, they come up as invalid part numbers.
Thanks,
Hugh
W704888-S439 (LCA rear bolt)
W704886-S439 (LCA front bolt)
When I look these up for price/avail, they come up as invalid part numbers.
Thanks,
Hugh

Stock bolts are torque to yield. According to instructions, supposed to replace when you take them out.
That being said, I've replaced my LCA's a couple of times, and they are knocking a little bit with the stock bolts.

A torque to yield bolts is one where you tighten it to a certain foot Pound then go 90 degrees or what ever the manufactures spec for them is. The control arm bolts are not torque to yield bolts I guarantee it.
The reason ford recommends them being replaced is one to make money and two they assume that by the time a car comes in and will need those parts replaced the bolt will most likley be wasted so replacing them would be needed at that point.
Bolts can be stretched and yield a higher tolerance for clearance.
And it's THEY ARE, not THEIR. Their implies ownership.
Anyway, anytime I swap out my LCA's they bang around a little more.
I've gone through stock, BMR, Steeda, now CHE.
Anyway, you've mistaken me for someone who gives a beep.
That is all.

Ford says that the bolts need to be replaced.

Interesting that you find a need to correct a simple typing error on someone else's part to make your self feel superior. I know full well what their means it was a simple error. So i hope you feel better now. I cannot stand people who find the need to correct peoples simple typing or grammar mistakes. I am sure you are perfect of course and have never made a mistake.

Some of us make errors when thinking about what we are typing and simple type the wrong thing. Glad to know your perfect in life. :gay:
The bolts are not Torque to yield I have spoken with many of the Ford Techs and they have also called Detroit to ask and the bolts are not TTY. You believe what you want but the bolts are not TTY per Ford. The bolts can be reused if torqued to proper specs. If however you remove your bolts over and over again then it might be a good idea to buy new ones but they bolts can be reused many times before this is needed. You obviously do not know what a true TTY bolt is and how it works. But that's OK.

And, you're right, I don't know the full engineering aspects of TTY, and I do believe that manufacturers state to replace bolts to make money.
I have read on several threads that the LCA bolts where TTY, and was using that as my base of info. Obviously, your engineer contacts are more knowledgable, so I stand corrected.
And your right, using bolts over and over again, especially if they get overtorqued, they may need to be replaced.
But you are wrong about one thing... I'm not perfect. I really shouldn't post after a bad day at work and 5 drinks.
If you feel the need to fire off any more insults, please spare everyone and use a PM.
Cheers.

OK, you're right, shouldn't have corrected your grammar, very rude of me.

And good job with listing the part numbers. To the OP if I was going to replace anything it would be the nuts those are actually more likley to give you trouble than the bolts themselves.

Any reason by chance that you show the front bolt as W711504-S439 and another post, along with a schematic I got, has the front bolt at W704886? I am preparing to go to the dealership so I may get an answer soon anyway but I thought I'd ask in case someone knows.

That was the schematic I went off of and hence the conflict between the schematic that lists the front bolt as W704886 and Hatchman's front bolt number of W711504. Which front bolt number is the right one?
I'd go with KC's schematic. I found that part number on another thread, so it could be wrong.
You are the man! now if I can just bother you to check out a question I had on hood liners that you responded to in my Bullitt Intake question thread. And thanks again for your valuable input.
