i have it, it works, it produces great gains, gives you seat of the pants feeling and also increased growl out of the exhaust. i highly recommend it.

I have it too. Works great for me!

And, no tune required for this CAI kit.

I have it as well. No complaints here, install was very easy. I ordered the intake from brenspeed.com with a X-Cal 2 and 3 tunes.

I like mine and have no tune.
I am very curious what the HP gain is without a tune as I haven't gotten it on a dyno yet.
Does anyone know?
What is the mixture ratio? I've heard that it leans it out, but I know it won't be enough to throw a code.

Without a tune, this kit has been documented (by several tuners) to provide a solid 15HP increase.

I really don't hear the 'suction' sound that much, probably because it's getting drowned out by my FRPP/Borla Stingers.

Here's a sound clip of some revs after I installed the kit.

Don- In his defense, I think he meant 15 total, not 15 percent.

People should say what they mean, and mean what they say.

I have it as well, works great!. I could feel the increase right away. Eventually I did get a tune and it only added to the fun factor, but was great even without one. I'm actually getting dyno'd on June 24'th gonna put the stock tune on for the first pull so I can at least see the tune difference vs just K&N.

No Heat shield? Has any1 checked the air temp going into the engine to see if it's higher than the stock intake?

Taco Bill chose to make his a warm air intake because he likes the way it looks.
I put in the heat shield and I put additional foam underneath to pull less hot engine air in (hopefully).

Karman is absolutely correct.

I do know the effectiveness with and without the heat shield, but I just didn't care for the way it looked, especially the 'form' rubber seal. I have my GT set up for 'show' thus, sans the h-shield.

As I defend my actions from the h-shield fans, let me just make 2 valid points.

1. When the vehicle is in forward motion, all hot air is evacuated from the engine bay (obviously not when at idle, this is where the h-shield shines through).

2. I'm not out to squeeze every ounce of hp out from this K&N kit.

heat shield..

I thought the heat shield also acted as a debris-water shield. If you hit a deep puddle with your air-intake not protected you could be looking at hydro-lock. not fun.
