I don't know if anyone else posted this but I just found out K/N came out with a cold air intake for the 05 GT. Has anyone tried it yet and do you need a computer flash for it to be effective? Also will it void your warranty?

here is the site http://www.knfilters.com/search/prod...x?Prod=63-2565

To my knowledge no. I had CJ PONY PARTS do some reasearch for me. That's great news for me, becasue I did not want to have to go through that. My kit will be here next week, along with my 20" rims..........

From what I've heard on this site, all Cold Air Intakes need a tune for the car to run right. Even the MAC intake, which says it doesn't need a tune, DOES need one according to one guy that got one and had his car popping the check engine light. After he got a tune, all was well and much more power. The word is, the computer is very sensitive to intake mods, and will run lean with just about an CAI. I would get a tune with any intake mod, just to be safe.

Mine will arrive tomorrow, it does not need a tune cause it retains the factory hydrocarbon trap.

K&N has also stated on these boards that it is not a true CAI. So that's another reason it doesn't need a tune. You just get less HP increase than with a true CAI but if you don't want to re-tune and/or spend the money on a tuner then you might consider it a reasonable (and I do) compromise.

I talked to K&N the other day and they are shipping my kit out since they used my car for part of the R&D work. He told me no tune is necessary. What do they retail for? I will be willing to sell the kit if anyone is interested (Once I get it of course).

JessicaRabbitt and Richard (rrobello) both have them on their cars, without a tune.

And they notice a difference in power.

What do you mean it isn't a true CAI?

It still has the hydrocarbon trap..The price is under 300.00, I would like to see some dyno tests.

I would think that if it doesn't need a tune, then the change in airflow is not significant enough to need a tune, then the performance gain would also not be as much as a "True" CAI.

I have had mine for over a month, and I defintely feel the difference. More responsive, and seems to "breathe easier"

Question for those who have installed, find it hard to believe this takes 90 minutes to install - looks like a bolt on process

yea its in a lot of pieces and you have to put it together, mine arrived this afternoon rather than 2morrow (FRIDAY), and I just opened it and I put a lot of the parts together except for the ones that require some bolts and the hydrocarbon trap on the vehicle.....
