Do you think it's the simple Hurst design or do you think you could install any shifter without taking out the drive shaft?
It's a size thing, and the Hurst and stock are just about the same size. So I imagine with any shifter you wouldn't need to remove the driveshaft, unless it's some funky design.

Just ordered my Hurst today...hopefully it'll be here by the w/e. MM&FF had a write up in this months issue on the install of this shifter so that, along with all of the good info I've read here should help it go nice and smoooooth...can't wait to get it.

It's as easy as it can be! I am going back under to loosen up the 13mm Hex nut this weekend. I just want to see what kind of effect it has.

Dont waste your time, it did not change at all! I took off the nut, re-lubed, then I replaced the nut with a nyloc just tightened to the snug position.Hope I saved you some time bro.

Thanks Dave!

Has yours broken in at all, or does it stay this stiff the whole time? I also have a slight vibration under heavy acceleration.

All in all I love it though.

Call me stupid, but why change to the Hurst Shifter. Is it a better shifter than what Ford offers in the mustang, or is it a nostalgia thing? I'm not trying to be a smart $ss, just curious.

Main thing is, throws are much shorter. Also, the shifter is much firmer, no slop while in gear.

As they say, "it's tight".

I swapped for the Hurst because of the shorter throw. The nostalgia is just a bonus!

I wasn't sure about it at first. Now, I really like it. Either I am getting used the the sound or it is actully getting quieter. Got alot of comments on the look too at a show over the weekend. One of my favorite mods.

I think I have just gotten used to it, and I have the same vibration under heavy acceleration

I'm getting used to mine as well. At first, it seemed stiff. But either I'm getting used to it or it's loosened up a little, becuase I love it.

Which issue of MM&FF is that article in? I just looked at the October issue at the newstand and didn't see the article.

heck, you all have convinced me. I had a Hurst shifter in my '69 Roadrunner, and I see that LMPerformance has it and the alternate t-handle and emblem as well. Gonna order it tonight.
