Just had my 410 gears installed

I just had my 410 gears installed and man I can really row through the gears so effortlessly now as the car is pretty well always in the power band (between 2000 to 2500 RPM)

However I was wondering is it absolutely necessary to have the Ford Racing Friction modifier added when doing the install? The shop that did my install did not add this. They did use 3 bottles of the Royal Purple oil.

Also is there any kind of break in period for these gears and how should the car be driven?

Thanks in advance for the replys

Go on Royal Purples' web site. They state Max Gear oil has friction modifier in it.

Prepare for new tires shortly and wishing for a 6th gear on the highway.

When I got 4.10's installed on my car i took it easy for about the first 300 miles. I also used the royal purple gear oil, it already has the friction modifier.

Thanks for confirming the friction modifier is already in the Royal Purple! I was getting a little worried there that it may have been missed.

I asked the guy who installed my gears and he just said to drive it normally and just do not take it to the track.

Just driving very casually the car revs up very quickly and it has got a lot more jump. Anyone sitting on the fence about this install should just do it! Unless you are driving consistently at 90MPH on the highway, it does not really make much of a difference. If you are cruising along at 75MPH the car drives very nicely.
