Has anyone done this , read somewhere that the Shaker tube doesnt reach the JLT heatshield?

if you go with a Fang Performance shaker the hood has the ducting in it and it will push air right ontop of the JLT plus it is a new hood so you will not have to worry about cutting into your factory

 

Yeah but that's also more than double the price of buying the CDC shaker. The fang shaker and hood cost $1275 plus tax and S&H. Then add atleast another $600 for prep/paint and install at your local body shop. I bought the CDC Shaker and had it installed for $1100. The majority have just bought the shaker and done it themselves. If you have the cash then by all means get the fang shaker.

Was there any chance of bringing the Shaker tube into the JLT Heat shield at a straight angle, or was it easier to just route it at the bottom, similar to the stock air box setup. Example of a C&L setup shows the inlet coming in from the top location of the heat shield.

In my situation it was easier to route it in at the bottom. Also I'm not sure if the JLT heatshield sits as high as the C&L.

 

Props to you... I could never cut a hole in a perfectly good and new hood!

 

It is the same on the C&L intake. I have the CDC Shaker with the C&L intake and my hook up looks just like TOM281's. I had pics but it looks like I deleted them. I had to cut 1 1/2 inches out of the vertical portion of the CDC air tube and glue it back together to make it come in at the bottom of the heat shield. I can take more pics if anyone wants.

Does the filter sit higher than the heatshield and if so how much of hit ends up hitting the hood cover if any?

Definitely do it yourself. You will appreciate it so much more. The actual cutting the hole is not that intimidating, because once you cut out the template with a razor knife and score the paint on the hood, you are at the point of no return. Then you just relax, get a firm grip on the jigsaw, use the appropriate blade and walk it around the hole. Of course be prepared for your neighbors to think you have lost your mind, cutting a hole in your new Stang's hood
I got some pics and a brief write-up on when I did my CDC Shaker Install if you need them.
BTW, when the weather clears up I will be installing the C&L CAI and doing something similar to the setup shown a few posts back.

I know this thread is about the JLT and CDC Shaker but for those that have a C&L it is equally doable. Attached is a few pics of my setup. Mine is very similar to TOM281's. I cut 1 1/2 inches from the vertical part of the air tube and glued it back together to get it to come up to the bottom of the C&L heat shield. I than turned up an aluminum spacer to go between the airtube and the heat shield. A little black paint and tadaaaa! It works great. Looks from these pictures I need to get my filter cleaned soon. Jeez!!!
