JLT Rubbing

I know this has been posted before. I did the search is there a good fix for this. I was thinking of using a dremel to file down the heat shield so that the filter does not rub the hoodliner. The filter is getting smashed by the hood. Also it is rubbing at the elbow!

I've thought about doing that also.

I have a 2008 gt with the same problem. Cut out the shield to clear hood but it sat on one of the hoses. Put a piece of foam between the hose and cai. No problems since, been on about a year. See some slight rubbing where filter rest on shield. Probably get some small gasket or rubber hose and cut to cushion it.

I put one on this week and was concerned about the hoodliner.
I used the old tinfoil trick to check clearance.
(You tape a couple of layers of foil in the troublesome area and close the hood. The foil shows the impressions.)
After a few tries, I attached the filter a little off-center (leaning towards the front and down).
The filter does not hit anything now.
It really isn't off line enough to notice easily.

I GRINDED MINE DOWN ON THE CORNER. MY HOOD LOOKED LIKE IT WAS STAYING OPEN A BIT.

I've ground down the heat sheild where the filter sits to try and get it to point down more. Doesn't contact the hood liner any more, but is contacting the strut tower now. I also tried attaching the filter off center. Everything helps, but always seems to contact somewhere?

As long as we are on the subject of things rubbing...
I have a question.
There is a piece of heat shield that goes down below between the brake lines and the coolant hose on my '06.
What is it there for?
It seems to rub on the brake lines and comes close to the hose.
I don't like it there.
I have already taken a heat gun to it and bent it up to help complete a cold air box type arrangement.
I also put some foam in the area to help seal it more from engine heat.
This also seems to allow me more of a range of motion for the shield, which seemed to help when I was moving the filter and intake to avoid hitting anything.
Comments please...
