JBA Shorty Install Issues
Summary: I attempted to have the shorty headers installed but ran into issues. Issue 1: Header hit the block. Issue 2: The headers hit the steering column. Both are resolved - but if you are planning on buying ANY headers, please review.
JBA assisted and, at not cost to me, shipped headers overnighted to me
Solution: New driver side headers and must purchase Steeda Motor Mounts for an additional $260 + s/h.

that is really nice of jba considering that there was no way the header could fit. to bad they did not include the steeda mounts in the kit. i did read that ccs tunning in Austin installed a set of jba headers and they shimed the mounts with washers & ground the block to make room for the header.
JBA is a great company, I have installed their long tubes and no-cats h-pipe without any trouble at all. I sent them info on how to move the steering shaft without removing the rack and pinion bolts, now they are adding this to their instal instructions. Great mod for the money IMO, can't wait to dyno. B)
that's major B.S. , if they can't provide a shorty header that fits to a stock 05 GT, then what is the use of them supplying headers....I hope they read this, b/c they are going to lose alot of customers....It's the same as saying, our small block Chevy block-hugger headers will fit your Mustang, but only if you install a small block Chevy motor.....I figure that will be in fine print also.

That is exactly the reasons that Dario said the Steeda Headers hadn't been released yet. They had just test fitted a set on the Red Q and thay had all the problems worked out. He told me this about 2 weeks ago , and said they should be in production in about 3 weeks. So I'll be checking back next week ...
Argh!...I have a set of the JBA shorties sitting in the garage waiting to be installed wih the pullies and a few other things at the same time..I do not want to get a bunch of other things to go with the headers just to make them fit!..Is there a big noticeable gain with the headers , or maybe I should sell them and get another brand?..Somebody may get the JBA's cheap if i decide to sell =)
Accordign to JBA, this is for ALL headers, any manu. Shorty or Long Tubes. I dont think you will be able, at this time, to buy another set that wont require this. But this is based on what i was told by JBA. However, after seeing the exhaust manifold off and the headers on, it would be very hard for someone to design another header that eliminated the issues i am having - without crushign the tubes.

The Steeda headers I saw recently were equal length shorty headers and Dario said they had all the problems with the headers hitting things worked out. The tubes were not crushed , but because they're equal length they look like a bunch of spaghetti. I had been trying to get them since I first saw them in the catalog , but they wouldn't sell me any because they were having problems with the fit. I live nearby Steeda and they would have done the install , so I guess that is why they wouldn't sell me any ...
I spoke with JBA, and they said it may not be an issue on all vehicles but they strongly recommend changing the mounts. They have to say that for liability reasons. And even though it doesn't look like an issue right now, the engine will shift due to the mounts and can crush the pipes and/or steering. My car looks fine, but I'm going to install the mounts to be safe. Go to livernous website and buy them. Better price.
