JBA Headers & Bassani x-pipe

I just finished installing my JBA long tubes and went to put the bassani x-pipe back on and ran into a big problem......

The headers are about 2 inches wider than the ends of x-pipe. Does anyone else have this combination?

I called JBA before the install and they said that there should be no alignment issues. Looks like I will have to take it to a shop and have them alter the bassani mid-pipe and custom fabricate something.

Looking for any feedback or suggestions.

Thanks.

Any reason you went with the Bassani x pipe over the JBA x pipe. I've heard that you don't want to mix and match headers and mid pipes.

I got the bassani x-pipe 2 years ago. Got the 5 piece pipe with the high flow cats and just ran it off the stock manifolds.

Decided to upgrade to the JBA long tubes this year and was hoping to be able to just remove the cats and use the off road x-pipe still.

Hey if you want to sell those cats give me a PM. No they will not match up. JBA is made to fit JBA pipe. You can have a adapter welded on.

Why would it be so bad to mix and match exhaust products? I heard of a lot of people doing it. Also, I don't believe that JBA makes an x-pipe, only an h-pipe.

Plus I didn't like the design and price of the bassani headers.

Maybe I should clarify why I said don't mix and match different manufacturers components. It is not because I believe any harm is done it is simply they all use different types of connections. ie. slip joint, ball socket, flange and flared coupling. They just don't and won't bolt together. At least out of the box. But with a enough custom work you can make anything fit together.

i think you will need to custom welding the parts and this will not afeect the end result
i heard on you tube a very musical sound out of this combination .

by the way i want to ask you,how loud is the sound of jba lt headers as well as the jba axle back since im waiting the arival of my complete jba system including lt headers,o/r h pipe and cat back?

+1 to Scott, don't mix and match exhaust components unless you're willing to opt for custom fabrication. Very few manufacturer's headers line up identically to a different midpipe.

I see what your saying now 70mach.... I misunderstood your first comment.

But yeah, I'm basically stuck having to get some custom work done. I bought the bassani mid pipe a couple of years ago not thinking I was going to get long tubes. Now I have them and don't want to drop more money for another full mid pipe.

As for the sound, I don't know yet since it's not all back together yet. I will tell you this though, I did fire it up with only the open headers on and it was rattling my neighbors windows. Sounded bad a**.

I havent read the whole thread so someone might have mentioned this but I ran into the same problem when installing my BBK LTs and BBK X

...turns out I tightened down the headers all the way before even attaching the mid pipe- Try to go losen the top bolts on both headers to give some play then attach the X and see if that helps.

The issue is that it is two different manufacturers between the headers and x-pipe. The headers are perfectly flush on the block so there is no way I am going back to mess with that. And it's off by about 2 inches so it's not like I can finess anything.

Just gonna have to have some custom work done and curious if anyone else had the same combo and ran into issues also.
