Intercooler Temp gauge???

I'm thinking of using a standard mechiacal Water Temp gauge and plumb it into my SC intercooler line. Would this be smart or something I totally don't need to do. I'm thinking a tee with the temp probe screwed into it anf cut the line somewhere and clamp it back together.

Good thinking or bad????

To check the temp of the Intercooler fluid. That's why I'm asking. Is it something I need to monitor or doesn't the fluid get that hot. So far the Intercooler tank was not been very warn to the touch after driving around, so perhaps I don't need it but just asking questions.

Hum, I know I don't need one because my 'cooler is air-to-air...... the Saleen cooler must need water because it's not as efficient as the Paxton.

Just kidding Darrell- it sounds like a good idea to me.

My point is this. Why monitor it if you have no way to control it. In other words if you cannot lower the Temp then why concern yourself about what the temp is. Now if you have a way to control the temp and adjust it as you drive then i could see a need, otherwise I think your better off with a Engine Water Temp gauge.

I think you would be better off monitoring post S/C air inlet temps (just as the PCM does) rather than intercooler coolant temps. If your air inlet temps are not excessive, there's no reason to monitor the coolant temps. After all, it is the air inlet temps that are critical and what controls when timing begins to be pulled and affects performance.

Now that being said, why don't you look into the MSD Dash Hawk.
