Intake Air Path

Where does the intake system draw air from? I was examining the area where my Tunable Induction CAI filter sits to see if I could make improvements to the marginal heat shield it comes with and I could not see any obvious pathway for cold air. There doesn't seem to be any fender opening as in previous Mustangs nor does it look as though air could enter through the grill. The only place that I could see where air could come from was from underneath past the ABS hardware. Am I missing something?

Next to the ABS box and down. There is kind of a straight shot to the ground, but that is it.

And perhaps a bit from underneath the hood itself, but more than likely not quite enough, to provide any real difference..
