The tune I downloaded had two options before I installed it. One was the C&L performance tune and the other was C&L performance tune 91 octane (don't remember exact words).

I was under the impression that there was a 93 octane tune?

On my predator with canned tunes it goes up to 91 octane also...Several on here have mentioned the 93 tune...but I can't find it.

I don't even know if I would use it...VERY happy with the 91 tune...

The 'C&L Performance Tune' is the 93 octane tune.
When you select it, the Predator's display will inform you that it's the 93 octane tune.

Doh!

Well, it should say it then... Kind of misleading when it has a 91 octane tune underneath it.

Is there just a plain 87 tune on it as well?

I use the 93 octane tune with - 5 points on Global spark to run 87 octane.

I know that was mentioned somewhere (C/L site I think)
but is that the only thing that is changed to run 87 vs 93?
Are there other settings that would adversly affect the car?

Shouldn't be anything else but timing.

I'd be interested in seeing all the differences between the 91 and 93 octane tunes. If all there is is the Global spark, then we could've just added a couple degrees for higher octane.

I've got the 91 octane tune installed, and am almost done with my first tank of 92. I did notice a couple of times with about 3/4 throttle I was getting a little knocking, anyone else experience this?

I'll be filling up again soon with 91+, we'll see if I can still hear the pinging once all the older gas is totally gone.

How does the car feel now with this set up. I installed mine today, but I am not sure I am impressed with the difference over just the 91 oct. tune without the CAI.

Are you sure you're installing the C&L tune and not just the regular predator tune?

Yup, installed the C&L tune and another custom tune for the C&L CAI. I feel the difference in the car, especially the throttle response. It just does not make me go WOW!

Last I checked the global spark cannot be more than 4, but you can go onto the other two spark ranges and adjust them for greater than 93 octane.

Lee from C&L told me the global spark adjustment is the only change from 93 to 87.

Question... if you put a 93 octane tune on the car but basically can't find gas that's over 91 octane (a regular occurance for me) will the 93 tune damage the car, or make it run badly with just standard premium?

You'll likely experience engine knock or ping which will damage the engine if you run it that way long enough.
I had a '72 VW Beetle and learned a lesson about knock the hard way. Preignition "knocked" a hole through one of the pistons in about 100 miles after I advanced the spark to get better performance.
Make sure you keep your Predator in the car and know how to retard the spark on the 93 tune so you can run a lower octane. It would help to know what to listen for so see if you can find someone to help out with a hands on lesson. I've heard it several times since then, usually on larger engines which generally just idled around town and got all carbon'd up thus increasing compression which required higher octane or less spark advance or combustion chamber cleaner to rectify.

Thanks for that. I suspected that.

So I'm still a little confused. Diablosport has a 93 tune, a 91 tune and an 87 tune? Or just the 93 and 87 tune?

The regular Diablosport Tune package comes with three tunes, 93, 91, and 87. The C&L tune file only comes with 2, 93 and 91.

The C&L tune is needed to properly correct for the larger MAF sensor housing that comes with the C&L Intake. Running the regular Diablosport program on the car with the C&L intake installed will cause the car to run lean, and turn on your check engine light (I know, I did it).

Thanks man sounds great

This is the setup I will go with then.

I was leaning toward the JLT but after the problems that were reported I figure the C&L is the next best.
