Yeah do let us know, have stainless step-bars on my truck that are getting really dull looking too. They told me at Yankee Custom to just use car wax, but it doesn't work, makes them cloudy-looking.

 

Here is my method to clean the tips. Granted it might not be the best, but it works. My Magnaflow tips turn brownish-black due to my OR X.

- Polish with 3M Rubbing Compound. The rag will become black with soot.

-Apply a second coat of Meguiars 7.

-Polish with Zep Stainless Steel Protector. I bought this at Home depot in the chemicals section. It's used to clean, protect, and polish SS grills, countertops, etc.

When done, they look like brand new. I don't do this very often because it's kind of a pain in the butt. I will touch the tips up with Windex and a paper towel every so often.

 

I think I am going to put Flowmasters on my list.

 

There is a drone with the flowmasters, but they sound so nice, I am able to live with it. I managed to get a rattle in the drivers side A-pillar cover, and the CD holder, beneath the radio rattles also. All this happened after the install of the Flowmasters. The noise comming from the CAI almost covers all that up though.

 

I don't think there is much weight savings. I think the Corsa ones are the smallest I've seen.

The Corsa's are about the same size as the Borla/FRPP's, the SLP PowerFlos, etc. The smallest is the Loudmouth... aka, what muffler??

 

Got mine delivered yesterday, might try to put them on today. Saturday at the latest. I was thinking of weighing the stock ones and the FM's just to see if there was much of a difference, but I think they're pretty close. I had the stock's off a few months ago to put a tow hitch on the car (Yes, I have a GT with a tow hitch). Kinda want to take it back off, but getting those bolts in there was a real P.I.T.A. and I don't have the bolt tails anymore, so they'd be next to impossible to do now. I'll just have to live with the extra weight over the back wheels I guess.

 

When I installed my flows they seemed considerable lighter than stock... at least 5lbs each. Definately not as light as LMs though

 

Can you discuss the drone more? I know that flows for older Mustangs droned like my mother-in-law, but I thought the new ones don't? Or is it only in the sub 2,000rpm range?

They drone, sub 2,000rpm.

 

In my car the flows don't drone that much. Only in 5th gear at 45-55 when I accelerate harder with downshifting. But I love the sound of the drone so I do this fairly often. The only rattling that I have had was a very bad interior rattle that took me a couple days to discover was just the quarters that I had in the change holder in the console.

 

Mine drone a little between 2000-2300 rpm... I actually kinda like it.

 

The best thing I've ever used to polish wheels/tips is a product called NeverDull. It comes in a tin can, with cotton like material inside that you rip away to polish whatever it is you're doing. It's only like $5. Give it a try and let me know how it works (most automotive places should have it, even Meijer's does).

 

You know what I do like is the glub glub you hear when you deccelerate in gear.

 

I absolutely love that sound... it's one of my favorite parts of having the Flows.

You should come to 1431, it's a weekly car meet at the Home Depot on 1431 near Palmer. Usually tons of cars show, but not as much in the winter as the summer.

 

Bring a few beers anf you'll loosin up, conversations will flow having something major in common. Is there any mustang clubs in Austin area? At least you guys have it pretty nice all year round. Clubs out here hybernate in the winter.

I keep my tips clean with "turtle wax" chrome polish. BTW-If you click on the "my video" link in my sig there are several clips where you can hear the flowmaster with an o/r H.
