Increase in miles till empty
#1
I'm really embarrassed to say that I have 16,000 miles already on my 2005 GT, and it's only 8 months old, but I do a lot of traveling for work.
But last week, I filled up the car, and when I do this, I reset all the information. Normally, I have been getting about 347 miles to empty when I fill it up. This last fill up, I reset all the information, and when I got to miles to empty, it stated, (407 MILES TO EMPTY). So far I have around 200 miles on this tank of gas, and I'm getting (207 miles to empty). Calculating the miles I've driven and the amount of fuel I've used, I've now gone from 23mpg, on the highway to almost 26 mpg.
So here is my questions.
Is it possible, that I've finally broken in the engine to what it will be?
Or (regarding previous forums of the gas tank problems, about filling it up), did I maybe find a way of filling the tank to the extreme?
Do not get me wrong, I love the heck out of getting better mileage,
but I was just wondering if anyone else has encountered this?
Let me know what you all think, and please no sarcasm... OK....

I only get about 260 MTE per fill up. I usually get between 13 and 22 mpg depending on how I've been driving. One time I filled up, I got 300 MTE. Am I not filling it up all of the way? I have 7780 miles on mine.

Last I checked mine, it got 25 mpg off of one full tank. I also have 16K miles on mine. I also have a special tune and other stuff that brought my mpg up from 17 mpg.

Thanks for the response, and what special tuning did you do? Prior to this 25mpg, I was getting about 23mpg... as most of my driving is highway.....
But I can drag it down to 17mpg, if I really wanted too....
