Idle at start-up

Just wondering if this is normal. I have an 07 GT and whenever I start it (cold or hot) it idles at about 2000 for about 2 sec, then drops to about 1500 for another 5 sec or so before finally settling at around 900. I've only had it since Sept but don't remember how it idled at start-up when I first got it. Thanks.

sounds about right for when mine is cold... although, i think mine takes more than 5 seconds to hit 900.

Mine too....It's too warm the cats.

You can adjust this in your tune.

Thanks guys! I was thinking about taking it to the dealer to have it checked out but it's a pain to leave it so thanks again, you saved me a trip.

Which parts of the tune control the initial RPMs to warm the cats? I checked the idle stuff and didn't find anything that called for the initial 2400 RPM spike.

I find that after 4-5 minutes, the idle would drop below 1000 RPM or sooner depending on the ambient temperature.

You have to have the SCT software- the software that tuners (Brenspeed, Bamachips) use to program the SCT hardware with your custom tunes.

Well then you should know....... LOL!

All I know is that I obviously couldn't adjust it on the handheld. When Brenspeed emailed me a tune a while ago for the offroad pipe, they said they had adjusted the idle parameters. As soon as I fired it up, the idle dropped immediately to 850 rpm and stays right there.

But for the original poster, this feature is to warm your cats up quicker so I wouldn't advise dropping the idle faster unless you have an offroad pipe.
