I have had my Xcalibrator for over a month now and I can't make my Idle stay below 850 rpm. (manual trans) I tried to modify the tunes I got with the unit from modular depot with limited success. The idle would go down for a short time then the computer would adjust and it would be right back up above 850. I just installed a JLT CAI and used the included premium tune ( it was the right ECU code) and here we go again. I had to edit the tune and take 2 degrees out of the timing as I had some pinging (I have only put 93 octane in the car from day one) so i set the idle down to 600. Again I started the car and the idle went down to 600. I took a short drive and the first time I stoped it was right back up at 850. I know its only a matter of time before a fix is found, so I will be patient. Anybody else with same problem? Anyone have a fix?

Steve im having the same problem, mine is an auto and it's at 950 in drive and 1050 in neutral. It is very annoying at best and I can't access the xtreme tune software, it won't work for me. So I just ordered the diablo sport unit and I should have it by Monday and I will be removing the SCT and installing the diablo 93 octane tune which it more adjustable. Hopefully it will work with my JLT CAI.

Hate to say it after the fact, but you all should have gotten a Diablo Tuner, You can do just about anything that you can imagine. If I wanted mine to idle at 350 rpms it would be possible.....sorry for you selecting the SCT!!!!
Cant say that I've ever owned one....but sounds like SCT=POS. You tell me.

Bucky, the SCT is a very good unit and the performance is great. It's just the adjustability that bothers me. Im waiting on the Diablo tuner to arrive at my door, I ordered it a few days ago and I will compare them both and see and post my thoughts. Hopefully the Diablo will perform as well if not better. Maybe if im lucky it will arrive today.......................

Please be carful loading a can tune and the JLT. The JLT flows much more air then any other intake and needs major tuning attention. Any can tune will not be enough.
I hope to have the Diablo tune next week and will beable to send them on CD as well.
Check in at the end of the week if you don't hear from me.

What would be the benifits of a lower idle? Other than gas milage.

Well what's the big deal. Mine has always idled at 750. How often are you at idle inorder to improve gas mileage.

I too have noticed a change to my idle after installing the JLT/SCT combo. My idle at start up is much higher than the stock setting and it only comes down to 950 - 1K RPM once warmed up. I'm going to have the dyno shop bring it down for me once I have all my mods installed and have it tuned......I too wish the SCT was more user friendly as far as being able to adjust tune parameters right from the box - and not having to get the program from a tuner (if he will let you have it that is)......Diablo seems to be the better choice....from what I've read hear anyways

That's what I'm going with. So you guys are having higher idles after the tune??? That explains why you would want to drop it lower.

A slightly higher idle for a manual trans might be ok. But im running an auto and it just needs to be lowered about 200 rpms from 950 to 750 and the cold startup idle is also too high. Other than that the SCT tune is awesome!

Yeah - the cold start up idle needs to be adjusted downwards a bit - quite a bit higher than the stock tune. Let me know what your results are and I'll post mine when I get to the dyno shop.

I have the X-calibrator with the PC cable and after my original issue of having a faulty PC cable I have control of changing parameters up to 15% from factory. I did have a high idle especially at cold start up. After I adjusted the idle down to 550 myself I have found that even the cold startup is lower as is the warm idle. Sometimes idle does increase with A/C useage. No problems here!
