Hurst shifter, BMR driveshaft loop and Spydershaft Problems

Anyone have the above combination and problems. I am having problems. Recently installed a BMR ds loop (the one with the big ring) and a 4" Alum Spydershaft. I already had a Hurst shifter. Now the loop hits up against the shifter and when I go over a bump, I get loop to driveshaft contact. Believe some mods on the loop arm may solve the problems. Any ideas.

Most of us that have an aftermaket shifter, BMR brace and Spydershaft had to fab up a spacer to go between the bracket on the brace to shim it away from the shifter. I put a piece of metal, can't remember the width in there and the problem was solved. Good luck.

Check out Tacobill's D/S install and scroll about halfway down. You'll see pics of the spacer he fabricated.

Taco Bill looked like he was under that car with only the jack supporting the rear of the vehicle.

Nope. In fact he's usually got one jack under the pumpkin, one on the center of the k member. Then two jacks on both ends of k memeber and two jacks just behind the rear factory jack points. I know because I do all my installs at his place and the 2 jack, 4 jack stands is SOP.

I had the same problem with the stock shifter hitting the BMR loop in 1st, 3rd and 5th. I used the 2 spacers from where the center portion of the stock two piece shaft is attached to the underbody. I believe the spacers are about 7/16” thick. I have a 3 1/2” aluminum DS so no issues with the loop contacting it.

Flat plate shim is more stable than using 2 washer spacers.

Whichever method you decide, a shim of 0.380" thickness should do the trick.

C'mon Anthony, I'm supposed to be the one setting the standard here.

I would have to agree, I'm just too lazy to make one. Anyone know where I can get a piece of 7/16" thick aluminum to make a one piece shim???
