When you get the MGW don't hesitate to try the throw adjustment to a longer setting like 3-4 turns out. It's still short and has a much more positive feel than just going right for the shortest settings. I was originally at about 8 turns out and quickly went for 3 turns to lengthen the throw a bit more.

That's another reason why I like the MGW over the Hurst. It allows the end user to adjust between both shorter and longer settings, instead of being stuck with a fixed setting that may be too short.

Its amazing to me how adamant fans of MGW shifters are. Every Hurst thread turns into a MGW hostile take over. I heard how amazing they are and i am no doubt a believer. It reminds me of the guy in the WRX that pulls up to me and always feels like he has something to prove. Like owning a Mustang, I like the novelty of a Hurst.

You said exactly what I was thinking. I agree that the MGW is probably the better shifter if you are going racing and have a very high horespower configuration. Otherwise I am going with one that satisfies all of my senses. I really like the look of the Hurst and you cannot get that same look with the MGW. If there was a taller handle, something that looked more like the Hurst or even the Roush I'd probably be more inclined to buy the MGW but the it's visually boring.

BTW the WRX thing hapens to me all the time too!

You do realize that the MGW handle is adjustable. The height can be either raised or lowered.

I guess I need to see a pic of it adjusted to it's tallest position. Anyone have it adjusted that way, not with the stock ****?

You are right. It happens all the time no matter what shifter someone wants info on.

Try going to this thread: http://forums.bradbarnett.net/showthread.php?t=464910

There are pics of the MGW adjusted to it's max height.

I'm not going to engage in another argument about shifters here. I've been through several shifters, have changed many shifters for many people and I also see and understand the designs available. If you don't see and understand that then I'm sorry. It's just not debatable IMO. Sorry.

Thanks but that's the thread I started. I think it answers my question...the MGW is not as tall as I am looking for. I just can't decide between the looks and ergonomics I really want and the shifter which is probably engineered better.

I'm truly on the fence.

Dang bro! I just looked at the pic of the MGW adjusted to it's highest position and I can't believe you'd want even that high. That's higher than any other shifter will allow.

Just as the Hurst people jump in every thread that doesn't concern them. IMO. If the MGW people are at fault for hijacking threads, then the Hurst people are just as much at fault !
