How to receive an updated tune?

I'm curious as to how I will receive an updated tune because of a new mod purchase.

I'm assuming that I will need an updated tune from Brenspeed when I order an OR/H because I definately do not want any check engine lights. How does that work? Is the tune emailed to me and then I download it to my X-3? Is it that easy? This will be my first tune update. Thanks!

Yes, they likely just email it to you. It will probably be a .ll3 extension file. You will need a PC and will need Live Link III downloaded and installed- you can get this from www.sctflash.com for free.

1) download & install Live Link III from SCT.

2) save your emailed tune to your PC

3) plug your X2 or X3 into the PC via USB port and open the LL3 program. Use it to open the new tune you just received. Your tuner will only hold 3 or 4 tunes, if you have the total amount of tunes capable of being stored already in the tuner, you will need to erase one of them to make room for your new tune.

4) Using LL3, load the new tune into the tuner, and after a few minutes- viola, you're done.

It's been a while since I've done this, but I don't think that I've missed anything. Of course, you can consult the people sending you a tune for additional info and also can join the forums at www.sctflash.com and search around for additional info if needed.

Thanks,

Tom

You just replacing the H-pipe right, no headers? If so just call Brenspeed, I bet he has the rear O2's turned off in the tune you have now. If so you will not need an updated tune. If you put LT's on then you would need an update.

I believe that Brenspeed already has the rear 02 sensors turned off. So unless your upgrading to long tube headers, you shouldn't need an updated tuning file !
