How is a prochamber different from an h-pipe
Its that time of year again, Im looking to change around my exhaust. I tried an O/R x-pipe- It was too raspy and a little too loud for my neighbors. I tried a high flow catted x-pipe- still a little raspy.
I now have a high flow catted (bassani comp cats, as used on hi-flow x-pipe) fitted with the factory h-pipe. It sounds great! Im just curious how a prochamber will sound compared to the h-pipe. What exactly is inside the prochamber? Is it basicly a longated h-pipe, or is it chambered like a muffler? How much quieter will it be over an h-pipe? How much louder will it be with no cats? I dont really want it any quieter than it is now, and I may condsider an O/R prochamber as long as its not too loud or raspy.

So, deeper than a h-pipe would you say? I may just pull the trigger and get it just to try something different, I already tried an x-pipe and h-pipe, so might as well try all three.

LM performance.com seems to have the best price. Im still kinda looking into to it, I dont know yet If im gonna pull the trigger...

Perhaps you'll find this as helpful.
MAC’s patented PRO CHAMBER® has obsoleted the current intermediate systems. Split (one each side) manifolds
or exhaust headers on any engine need to be balanced to each other. On a V-8 motor for example, exhaust pulses enter
respective collectors at uneven intervals of 0-90-180-270 degrees of engine rotation. This process hampers the full
benefit of any exhaust header or manifold system by the long intervals between exhaust pulses, making balancing of
exhaust mandatory for optimum power. Balance tubes between exhaust, on opposite sides, help transfer exhaust

I ran a prochamber for several years. It will make the tone of your exhaust slightly lower and more mellow. However, don't buy into the hp numbers listed above. I had my car on the dyno several times with the prochamber and I can say it is really not worth anything. Just changes the sound of the exhaust.

I just went back to the prochamber set up. I love it. Took the SLP catted x pipe of and put back on my o/r Prochamber with GTA mufflers. Amazingly ,no drone and a nice deep sound.
