how is this possible?
Talking to my brother-in-law today. He went to the track to race his truck on the weekend and said a 2005 Mustang GT got a 1/4 mile time of 12.2 seconds at 118 mph. He said the car did not have a supercharger, twin turbo or NOS. So what mods do you think the guy did in order to get that sweet time?
The mods I have with the right suspension, better driver, maybe less weight, true slicks.
I've seen performance shops claiming low-mid 12's with a CAI, pullies and tune. I'd have to see those runs to believe. I'd like to know what that guy had for mods though.
The 12.2 seems possible but on a full weight 05 you would need 450+ HP to trap 118. That isn't likely without some kind of power adder.
For reference JPC trapped 119 on their 10 second pass with a 125 shot of nitrous and race gas. That was with some weight reduction.

He also had a complete supsension redo, 15" light wheels, skinnies, 28" slicks and some serious skills.
Paul's High Performance could only eek out a 12.42 with pretty serious modifications if you remember from the Hot Rod Magazine coverage. And I think his driving is as good as anyone's. 12.2 seems pretty deep without NOS, sounds to me like he has a dry nozzle tapped into the air intake and is flirting with disaster if there was no error on the track timing system.
