How much HP will this upgrade yield?

Hey guys. I have an '05 GT with the following mods:
  • C&L "street" set up
  • Breenspeed 93 tune
  • Steeda UD pulleys
  • Magnaflow magnapack cat back

I was thinking about adding:
  1. LT headers
  2. CMDP's
  3. NSR cams.

Q.-Any idea how much HP will this upgrade yield with these three upgrades??

I have been quoted $450 for the labor on the headers and $350 for the cams(i'll do the CMDP's myself). Are these labor rates what everybody else is paying?

Thanks for the help guys!

Sounds like around 25-30 with the first group, 40-60 with the second.

I have all your mods in group 1 and group 2 and my car is 315/311 at the wheels on Brenspeeds dyno. I have an automatic. If you have a manual you can add maybe 20/15 to my numbers. Brenspeed charged me $280 to install the cams.

VERY good info! My car is a manual so I guess it will free up a bit more HP.

Are the CMDP even worth doing?

I believe they are good for 8-10 hp in the higher RPM ranges. It all adds up!

Install the LT's, NSR cams, and cmdp's yourself and use that money on a dyno tune or better yet add some 4.10 gears with that money. It'll really wake up

I sure wish Brenspeed made out-of-state house calls!

I didn't list 4.10's but I had those put in last summer by MV Performance. Great mod, wish i would have gotten 4.30's

I'm guessing maybe 25 hp with the longtubes and cams. What midpipe are you doing- catted or offroad? If offroad, then I'd guess around 30hp total gain at the wheels.

From what I have seen on our dyno, The LT's will net you around 10 for a N/A car, around 10 for the delete plates. The 127200 cams have shown 20 rwhp gains peak to peak and 31 hp gains at 6200 rpm on a stock car. These mods go hand in hand with eachother. Delete are almost a must when doing cams and longtubes will only help it breath. These mods will help create a mean N/A car. Overall power gain should chime in around 40 hp gains for the package.

I'd say between 290whp to 305whp.

Just wait for the '11 GT 5.0 and you will get more HP than those mods will give you. Why are people wasting money on mods to gain a few hp when your money can gain you 100 in about 6 months or so.

Your group 2 mods should bring you atleast 40rwhp!! Also, CMDP's are a MUST when doing LT's and Cams, they all go hand in hand in helping your car breathe ALOT better! Even if you were not going to do the LT's and Cams, the CMDP's are still worth a good 8-10rwhp! Now when choosing which brand LT's, stick with either American Racing(IMO the best) or Kooks, which are another great brand.. As for the labor rates, there actuaclly pretty good, they really arent bending you over lol...

2 things that could really help you out

1. Get with a buddy, go to AutoZone or the such, borrow tools and work do it yourself... it isnt hard... just a little time.

2. Go for et... hp #'s will change w/ weather, which kind of dyno, and the monkey working the dyno.

Good choice's in mods thus far

Most people don't like having a car payment. So, I'd rather keep modifying what I have. At some point, maybe in 2012, I'll pick up an '11 model after somebody else has paid the bulk of the depreciation. That’s what I did with my ’05. Saved a bundle!
