How long did it take for your Flowmaster mufflers to start rattling??

I need to know how long it has taken those of you who have (or had) the Flowmaster axleback mufflers to start rattling. I don't want to hear from those of you that have not had a problem, just those that have. There is a reason I need to know this, but it is a long story and and don't have time to type it all out.

Thanks in advance.

Richard

1-2 months usually

I'm on my third set right now and they have been fine, although I heard a tiny rattle yesterday, it better not be starting up again. Going to check to make sure the clamps are tight. I've had this set on for only 3 weeks. My 1 year from purchase date is coming up soon. It will be interesting to see if they screw me if they rattle again when the year is up. If that's the case I'm going to cut them open and weld them myself.

Well I had the rattle with my FRPP's. Found out I had to loosen mid pipe clamp and then tighten the axlebacks and then midpipe. All better now

No rattles on mine yet but only 2 weeks old. What's rattling on them? Is is something inside? I got my clamps good and tight and it seems to fit real well.

Early Flowmasters developed an internal rattle, a higher pitch one, after a while. As this post should end up showing, some fairly quick, others took a little longer. Even some of the replacement mufflers have started to rattle for some people. Flowmaster has done a fix on the mufflers to keep this flaw from repeating, but it sounds like there are still a few bad sets out there on store shelves.

My situation is a long story, but basically I have the problem and bought a new set and replaced them with a new set of Flowmasters tonight.

I bought my first set in April 05 and they were fine until I put on my MAC O/R Prochamber in August 05. They lasted about a month with that setup until they started to rattle, so I took them off and ran with the stock mufflers for the duration of winter. I then got a second set from Flowmaster in February 06, and since I didnt like the way the Prochamber sounded with the Flows, I went ahead and put the Pypes O/R H-pipe and the second set of Flows on at the same time. That setup lasted maybe 3 weeks before it started to rattle. So finally I am on my 3rd set of Flows (along with the H-pipe) and they are still sounding great! Flowmaster fixed that issue, and you are probably right...those getting new mufflers that rattle are probably ones that were still on the shelves prior to the fix.

No rattles here. ooops, I forgot, I ran straight pipes instead of mufflers and saved alot of friggin money and have the loudest 05' I have heard. Go ahead... do the test and take your mufflers totally off for a day. You'll go straight too and you won't have the rattle you are talking about. Just gotta do the battery reset sequience to keep the horse power.

2 reasons:
-I love the sound of the Flowmaster exhaust, always have.
-The stainless tips on the end fill the exhaust openings perfectly in my books!

-One more reason, Flowmaster has fixed the problem with a better weld.

1st set = 2 months/3000 miles
2nd set = 2 months/1500 miles
3rd set = Pypes Violators

I had 1st generation flows, september 05, fine for about 7-8000 miles then got the wazzuu sound. They sent me out a new pair (2nd generation), no hassel.

Basically is was a bad weld in on one of the baffles, it's been fixed.
