How to get a stock 4.6 to 400hp naturally?
Ive had a 06 GT for almost a year and it has only 3500k on the odometer. I was wondering if anyone knows how to get 400hp without using forced induction, engine swap, and keeping the mods price under 4k? Tips would be helpful, thanks!

If it's hp at the flywheel, then CAI, tune, cams, long tube headers, offroad mid pipes, & U/D pulleys should put you in the ballpark. I've been told around 380 or so.

Ok so lets put it this way until recently I was N/A w/ just about every bolt on you could do: Cams / Heads / Intake / Custom Tune / TB / UDP / FRPP Intake Manifold / LT's Hi Flo Cats & Magnapaks and I was right around 390rwhp give or take... Hope this helps!!!
I have to say though after spun bearing now I am going w/ a 5.0 stroker 298ci from Livernois / Heads & Cams / 2.3 whipple at 16 - 17 psi / new clutch / and much more... Should be pushing a little over 600rwhp; maybe something around 610 -615rwhp... VERY EXCITED!!!! Should be done in about 2 wks at most... Sorry don't mean to hijack the thread.

I wonder if that 1.53 hp/ci would hold up under a 5.4? If so your talking 500hp +/-, its to bad Ford never produced an aluminum 5.4 block designed to work with the 3v heads. If the hp/ci thing doesn't hold up then adding 49 cubes would put it into the 470hp range.

Free up your exhaust with longtubes and x-pipes, u/d pulleys, intake, throttle body & plenum, gears and cams. Should be under 4k and you should be right around 400hp.

Gears wont add to the HP number......but will surely make your car go vroom vroom much more quickly. I am thinking of getting the 410 gears that everyone is raving about.

I've got 4.10's & love them. Driveability around town is much improved, highway rpm isn't bad, & gas mileage (not that I care) doesn't suffer.

So I was running around 12.6's consistently but I feel there was more in it with a better driver... And yes the setup I had N/A was a little pricey (But compared to what I am paying now it is a drop in the bucket. So it is all in ones perspective). I mean I never intended to spend this much money but I wanted to do it right and one thing lead to another and here I am....

Thats why I said there was more in my car; more so driver error.... hahaha. I believe my car could go 12.4 w/ gears and better w/ DR's but I will never know. Now all I'm thinking about is mid 11's...
